The Scudetto has been the Inter Milan story over the past four years, with successive titles for the Nerazurri. Now with Jose Mourinho trying to extend his ‘Special One’ status by repeating the same feat he achieved at Chelsea in his first two seasons, successive titles.
Serie A is still seeing the effects of the recent Calicopoli match fixing scandal of 2006, with Inter Milan being the only ‘big’ team not be involved therefore they have now acquired this best squad in the Italian game.

In 2002, Rubin Kazan won promotion to the Russian Premier League for the first time. In 2004, the club reaped the rewards of a phenomenal season, with a first ever European campaign. That season was the first of two in which Rubin’s fans had UEFA Cup football bestowed upon them. And now, after winning the league last season, the Tatary find themselves level on points at the top of Group F in the Champions League. So, just how far can Rubin Kazan go?

Following Aston Villa’s disappointing elimination in the first round of the newly created Europa League, there are only three British teams currently still in the competition. Ever since Liverpool’s dramatic 5-4 victory over Alaves in the 2001 UEFA Cup final, teams competing in the English and Scottish Premier League have found progressing beyond the initial knock out stages a tough task.
With the Group Stages at the half way mark, can Fulham, Everton and Celtic advance and progress into the latter stages of the competition?

So, the Football League season is well and truly underway with just over a quarter of the fixture list completed. We’re now at the stage of the season where you start to get an idea of who’s going to achieve what when May comes around. With that in mind, in this article I’m going analyse the survival chances of the current bottom four teams in League Two.

Following the injury of Theo Walcott many football enthusiasts are calling for tougher action to be taken against players who are going into tackles with too much force and injuring other players. In the Fifa Football Laws book it quotes ‘If a player uses excessive force in a tackle then the player should be dismissed straight away by means of a red card’ and no measures were taken when Liam Ridgewell slide tackled Walcott in arsenals 3-1 victory over Birmingham City. It’s back to another football league blog for me, this time I will be concentrating on Southampton, as they try to escape from the League 1 relegation zone, after a points deduction.
Southampton like many other former Premier League teams, were relegated to League 1 last season, as Norwich and Charlton also followed them. For Southampton they had to deal, with a ten point deduction, which Leeds United were able to succumb a couple of seasons ago. It proved to be a tough start for Southampton, however under Alan Pardew they …

After 160 club appearances and taking charge of 127 games, Middlesbrough’s adopted son Gareth Southgate was sacked as manager.
Southgate didn’t have the most perfect record with Boro’. Out of the 127 games that he took charge of, he won 36, drew 35 and lost 56. But what was the reason behind Southgate’s sacking? Middlesbrough are lying in 4th place in the Coca Cola Championship, just 3 points behind local rivals Newcastle United who occupy the top spot – this would lead me to believe that the current standing of Middlesbrough …

Too many who follow African football, Santana’s recent sacking did not come as a surprise, the “Bafana Bafana” (The Boys) have lost 8 out of their last 9 games, with only one player scoring during this run. Santana’s only competitive wins came against Equatorial Guinea and New Zealand, hardly powerhouses in world football.
Carlos Alberto Parreira is a man most will have heard of, he is one of only two coaches to go to 4 world cups with different teams, and 2010 will be his 6th world cup in total!
So clearly …

Check the sillyboy1 blog every week for a review of the Serie B program.
We have reached week 11 and the top of the table is starting to get really congested as over half the table are in contention for promotion to Serie A.
Similar to the Championship in England, the second tier of Italian Football is always a hotly contested league in which all the teams begin the season with optimism.

With Arsene Wenger Celebrating his 60th Birthday earlier this month he insisted that his young side can bring an end their four successive season run without any silverware! Whether it is a minor trophy or major trophy Wenger will target it, but without doubt he’ll have his eye on the big one the primer league. Having wenger only winning the league three times out of a possible thirteen that will be Wengers main priority.
In Addition to dreaming of league triumph, Arsenal have so far this season made their league dream …
