2010/11 will most likely be remembered as very bittersweet for Spurs fans. They finally broke into the Champions League, played some of the best football on offer anywhere in England and recorded some huge results against Inter Milan and arch-rivals Arsenal never mind what happens against AC Milan in the knock-out stages. The team has come from behind more than anyone else this season and the indomitable spirit and attacking verve that Redknapp has installed made Spurs the favourite of many neutrals. Yet it also might be the season that …

Kenny Dalglish will be a very happy man. Liverpool put in a sub-par performance against Fulham, especially when compared with such a good one against Wolves on Saturday, but still managed to claim the points in a hard fought contest with Fulham. The attractive pass and move style Dalglish has been implementing was only evident in small bursts and during the closing stages, the hosts seemed to be clinging on for dear life to the 1-0 lead a …

This appears to be one of the closest Premier League title races in years with five teams considered to be vying for top spot come May. Is this a case that the smaller clubs in the league are closing the gap on the bigger ones, or is it a reflection of the way English football is heading?
Only 13 points separate the top five teams at the end of January, compared to La Liga where the same number of points only covers the top 3 clubs. This season is already regarded …

Sunderland are sitting pretty in the Premier League. When Ellis Short took over the club 18 months ago from the Irish consortium, Niall Quinn made one mission statement, to “never again be drawn into a relegation battle” like that which Sunderland had had to endure the previous two seasons under the guide of Roy Keane and then Ricky Sbragia. To that aim Sunderland are succeeding with flying colours, but as always in football it is important that they push on from this position to secure a spot in the top …

Opinion: Before the Bolton game Didier Drogba said that all Chelsea could focus on was getting two consecutive wins. They got that in what was finally a good display at the Reebok, with Drogba scoring a brilliant goal himself – however the same can’t be said about the other three but they all count just the same.
I thought that Drogba looked fantastic and maybe getting closer to his form he showed at the end of last and the start of season. Anelka was also …

I am an admirer of the football Man Utd can at times play. Tonights stubborn performance against Blackpool saw United take a smash and grab three points with a 3-2 victory. Whilst it irritates some football fans that United refuse to be beaten, I for one see it as a magnificent testament to what they are all about as a footballing side. One thing however is bewildering me…Why is Wayne Rooney not sat on the bench for Man Utd?
I do not want to go on about the sparkling career that …

Attractive football has been the agenda at The Hawthorns this season, and for once its the home team strutting their stuff against their awestruck opponents. Years have passed; failed attempt after failed attempt of securing Premier League safety (bar one unlikely season) haunts every individual fan as the blow of each relegation never seems to cease hurting. 4 promotions since 2002 have defined West Brom as the true yo-yo club of the 21st century and now, in 2011, could history repeat itself once again?
Roberto DiMatteo has transformed the club in the brief time …

Darren Bent’s departure from Sunderland for an initial £18m could have been a huge dent to the European ambitions of Steve Bruce’s men, but luckily a replacement is already on hand, in the form of the record signing, Asamoah Gyan. After losing Bent, the Ghanaian is the only forward available for Sunderland, with both Danny Welbeck and Fraizer Campbel out injured. When asked about the lack of options up front, Bruce said “Asamoah has played all his career …

When the Premier League formed in 1992 nobody could have truly predicted the impact that it, coupled with the millions of Sky Sports, would have on not only the English but the Euorpean game. But as we approach nearly twenty years of its formation, has the Premier League and the money involved with it, in fact destroyed some of the excitement and love of football?
The creation of the Premier League came around a time when English sides were mainly struggling in European competitions, teams were filled with British players and …

“In the past we’ve never given up,” Terry told Sky Sports after the match. “Manchester United are playing well at the moment and getting the right results, maybe getting a bit of luck too. But things can change and if we can win both games against them we’ll be right back in it.”
John Terry, adamant as ever, defiantly claiming Chelsea are back in the title race.
Chelsea’s impressive win over Bolton last night was the sort of performance thast we have not seen from Chelsea since October. Chelsea scored 4 goals, …
