As the UEFA Champions League’s second matchday has come to a close, all eyes will have been heavily focused on the exceedingly rich Manchester City.
And it seems that despite playing some wonderful, scintillating football this year, the mega bucks club are still held with a sense of contempt by many self-anointed high-horse riding football fans who call for home grown, slowly nurtured talent that is developed internally at the club which wishes to harness its talents.

They assembled a squad that was only possible to assemble because of the influx of cash injected into …

In Munich Manchester City were taught a lesson about European football, and I am sure that they will learn from their mistakes made on the pitch. But the headlines weren’t beaming about the brilliance of Ribery, or the performance of the Munich team as a whole, but they are were talking about Carlos Tevez, and his refusal to play the game that so many of us love and cherish.
Since the ‘fiasco’ both parties (Mr Tevez and Mr Mancini) have come out and spoke to the press. Mancini clearly furious at …

When I heard that Carlos Tevez had refused to play for Manchester City on Tuesday night the first thought that came to my mind was not this again, I have seen Tevez over the past months act like a spoiled child, yet then show moments of pure brilliance, The reality is that footballers now have a power that players like Sir Bobby Charlton, Pele and the other could only dream about.
Tevez will be suspended but if Tevez is sacked then he can claim unfair dismissal and probably win as he claims he had every right …

As Norwich City were looking forward to their upcoming Premier League season, Championship sides Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and Peterborough United were all hoping that they could ‘do a Norwich’ as they  were hoping to get a second successive promotion to take them to football’s holy grail after being in the third tier of English football.  For many fans and pundits alike, West Ham and Leicester looked too strong to contend with for the automatic promotion places, and with teams such as relegated Birmingham City and Blackpool, Nottingham Forest, …

On Tuesday night a scene unravelled that has shocked the footballing world and bought tirade after tirade on Carlos Tevez from all corners of the sporting world. It appeared as though, at 2-0 down, Mancini asked his captain to warm up so he can enter the fray in Munich, the Argentine golden boot winner refused and stayed on the bench. This showed a complete lack of respect, professionalism and maybe worst of all camaraderie as his team mates would have seen their captain’s actions and would have been even more …

Leo Messi bagged himself yet another hat-trick this weekend against Atletico Madrid while Ronaldo followed suit with a magician’s performance of his own. It had been a rather slow start to the campaign for both Barca and Real, but they need not worry. Each can boast that of course besides having a host of top class players amongst them, not to mention both having world class managers, both teams hold arguably the greatest player in the world. I say arguably because the argument does stand, is it Messi or Ronaldo? However, …

To add to his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich last night; Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini has a fresh dilemma to deal with. Carlos Tevez, who expressed his desire to leave Manchester in the summer, allegedly refused to come on against Bayern at the Allianz Arena. This apparent disregard for his manager’s authority has prompted widespread criticism for the Argentine striker, lowering an already tarnished public perception.
Let’s be honest, most of us didn’t have much time for Carlos in the first place. Widely regarded as one …

Tottenham Hotspur and Shamrock Rovers meet for the first time in the Europa League Group stage at White Hart Lane on Thursday evening.  Spurs will turn again to their younger players to overcome the League of Ireland side for whom it will be their chance of a lifetime.
Some Tottenham supporters will disregard this match simply because their team is facing the ‘minnows’ in Group 4 of the Europa League and it doesn’t compare favourably to last season’s Champions League group matches when Inter Milan came calling at White Hart Lane.  …

This summer had it’s fair share of deadline day transfers, which is a given with any transfer window. One of the most shocking was the move from Liverpool to southern rivals Chelsea, the media are portraying the shock factor of the move, however I don’t believe pundits have really delved into how much this loss might hurt Liverpool. The tenacious playmaker was voted PFA fan’s player of the year last year, and embodied Liverpool’s late run of good form by stepping up his own performances after not having the best …
