The main topic in the World of football over the last couple of days has been the transfer of Eden Hazard to Chelsea.  I think the only point that needs to be made on the subject of Hazard is that he is an immense talent, but it seems he is ill-advised, why on earth has he signed for a club without a permanent manager in position?  In signing him Abramovich has also revealed a lot about the way Chelsea is run, but that’s enough about Chelsea I had a rant …

Perhaps the biggest story for Arsenal this summer is whether Robin Van Persie will be leaving or signs a contract extension. There appears to be a collective feeling among most gunners that his departure would signal a major step backwards for the club and out of trophies’ contention for an agonizing while longer. This sense of gloom seems to be partially fuelled by the enthusiasm of the two Manchester clubs to bolster their already strong squads with even more proven talent while Chelsea also seems very keen to splash some …

Taking the lead in such a controversial subject such as video replay in football is probably a position that The FA is not likely to take, but should. This is certainly an issue for FIFA and all governing football bodies and while it could be an issue at Euro 2012, it will certainly be an issue next season in the Premier League.
From the start I want to set the ground rules so that my position is not contradicted. I am only wanting video replay for goals and nothing else. Not …

As Steve Simonsen blazed over his penalty kick to hand Huddersfield Town promotion to the Championship, the wave of disappointment that came over me was something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Its taken me a good few days to gather my thoughts. I pretty much flat out refused to speak to anyone about the game itself and I did my best to divert my conversations to other matters or telling them about my five hour journey to England’s national stadium.
Many fans across the country will look upon …

You’ve got to love Stewart Robson. The former Arsenal midfielder is making quite an impact in the media nowadays. I have to say I really enjoy his tactical analysis on Arsenal Player, although I don’t always agree with his opinions. For instance, he suggested on Sky Sports yesterday that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should start for England instead of Theo Walcott. I’ve always had the feeling that Stewart is not a big fan of Theo. Maybe it’s because Theo relies on his speed so much, in comparison with the Ox, who relies …

As a neutral the fact that Tottenham haven’t got a spot in the Champions League next year is gutting, lord knows what it feels like if you are a fan.  It was for this reason along with the fact that Terry has been loitering around my girlfriend’s house for the last fortnight that I was hoping for a Bayern Munich victory ten days ago.  It was not to be and Spurs have found themselves in the Europa League for a second year in a row.
They are a team who since …

Lampard and Drogba may have made their final curtain call in Blues last weekend while elsewhere, three veterans decided to leave a club they have played 761 times in their combined 34 years of service.
Among the three, Gennaro Gattuso is the lowest profile one. The ever-fierce-looking midfielder always announces his presence on the field with his unfathomable tank of energy. With minimal interest in play-making, his intelligence weighs heavily towards breaking opponents’ play. Gattuso’s never-say-die attitude impacted AC Milan’s formation significantly for the next decade, allowing the soft Andrea Pirlo …

Eden Hazard has dominated the transfer window since the English football season ended about two weeks ago. The Manchester clubs were the initially linked clubs as the Belgian announced the Premier League as his destination and boy did he make both sets of fans suffer with his teasing twitter updates and leg pulling comments during interviews. Chelsea became favorites to sign the Lille playmaker after being crowned European Champion according to his agent and the much awaited news was confirmed on Monday night as the player took to twitter to …

With the current economic situation in Greece worsening by the day there is not a lot for Greeks to be positive about at the moment, however a long source of pride particularly since their heroics in Portugal in the summer of 2004 has been the national football team. This time around being led by “the engineer of the penta” Fernando Santos, there are high hopes in Greece for a summer of positivity coming from Ukraine and Poland.
Following the European Championship triumph in 2004 Greek football was on the up with …

One way or another, it was always going to be a busy summer for Harry Redknapp. On the 8th of February 2012, following Fabio Capello’s controversial England resignation, Redknapp, relieved after being found not guilty in a recent court case for tax evasion, was media and fans favourite. Meanwhile his Tottenham team were playing the best football in the league according to Alex Ferguson, their quick and energetic style of play had established them as challengers for the title, albeit outsiders in the all-Manchester race. Those members of the media and fans alike speculated …
