7 days to save his job…..QPR’s Hughes could be in trouble.

29 October 2012 by

Win less in 9 games this season, Rangers are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and rumours coming out of Loftus Road is that if Rangers don’t beat Reading in next Sunday’s home game Hughes may be dismissed before the away game at Stoke the following week.

Members of the QPR board have lost patience the with the Welshman as Rangers have 3 points so far and at this stage last season QPR were sat in 10th position on 12 points. Fernandes is desperate for his appointment to be successful but anything but a win against Reading could force a change as they could be cut away from the rest of the pack.
It’s rumoured Fernandes wants to stick by his appointment but the concern at board level is Hughes has returned very little despite the significant summer investment and with a stronger, if not as tightly knit squad.
Many say that the main reason behind not dismissing Hughes is the substantial compensation packages that his backroom staff and Hughes himself would be entitled to as they are less than half way through a two and a half year contract and a new manager, more than likely to be the expensive Harry Redknapp, will want some investment.
Whilst QPR were unlucky to loose on Saturday against Arsenal they have not come up with the goods this season and relegation is looking a real possibility, can Hughes turn this situation around?, I don’t think he can and it looks like the board are starting to think the same.
With games against Stoke, Manchester United and Sunderland all away approaching not many points seem to be on the horizon for the West London club unless an almost miraculous turn around in fortunes happens soon.
QPR need to seriously consider that if they don’t act fast they could a) be cut away from the other teams and b) lose Redknapp to a big club as he is in demand….act now and they may have a chance.
