The tabloids in recent weeks have been awash with stories circling John Terry’s affair and Ashley Cole’s separation and there now seems to be a thinner line between celebrity and footballer. Once a footballer progresses in the world of football, he expects to be treated as a celebrity and this shouldn’t be the case. After the recent Bridge/Terry scandal huge disruption has been caused in the England squad resulting in Wayne Bridge effectively retiring from the national squad and no doubt rifts in the team will rear their ugly heads …

With the World Cup approaching, I have decided to name my England squad and starting eleven for the World Cup. There will be many shock inclusions and will include players doubtful for the finals.
Goalkeepers
Possibly the weakest area in the team with in my view little options and what I consider weak compared to some of the other teams.
JOE HART is my first choice at the minute as I think he is currently the best goalkeeper in the Premier League due to his outstanding form for Birmingham City.
BEN FOSTER would be my …

They have now won a record seventh Africa Cup of Nations titles, and have defended their double championship status with a 1-0 win against a determined young Ghanaian side in 2010’s final last Sunday. They defeated four World Cup-bound teams en route, namely Nigeria, Cameroon, Algeria and Ghana. They won all their group matches, matching like true kings to the final with all the other teams in awe. They are undoubtedly Africa’s best team. They are Egypt.
FIFA released the world rankings yesterday and the new standings are a true reflection …

The loan deal for Landon Donavon from Los Angele’s Galaxy to Everton may have gone under the radar for many but already it looks like it may be a shrewd move by manager, David Moyes.
Initially for only 10 weeks, already player and manager are pushing to make the move permanent such has been the ease of the USA captain’s transition to Goodison.
Since joining the Merseyside club Donavon has been impressive; laying on the equalizer against Arsenal on his debut, playing out the whole 90 minutes against Man City and scoring …

Stereotypes do not just exist within everyday society; they also exist within the beautiful game. This issue involves issues way beyond the idea of kicking a football but also takes into account the issue of national identity and even business acumen.
Many of the top nations in Europe have had their respective glory years, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and now its England’s turn. Despite this there seems to be an air of arrogance about the majority of football followers in England, that they now possess the ‘best league in the world’. I …

Everton’s 0-1 win at the DW stadium against Wigan extends their unbeaten run to 9 league games and provides them with their third consecutive league win. David Moyes’ side began the season riddled with injury and disappointingly fell to a 1-6 defeat against Arsenal, but with Arteta, Yakubu and Anichebe returning from injury the side are starting to pile up the points. Lescott’s messy transfer to Man City unsettled the players and may have attributed to their weak start in the Premier league.
However arguably the most important factor in Everton’s …

I know by looking at the title you will think this is just another sweeping generalisation by another writer trying to give another opinion but there is evidence to prove this.
Now that the incident at Eastland’s or `Middleastland’s` as it also known as (due to Manchester Cities owners place of origin) between Emmanuel Adebayor and the Arsenal has died down, its time to think on how us fellow football fans think that because one player reacts to years of abuse through provocation, the fans still think they are in the …

You’d have to be some sort of recluse to have avoided the controversy behind France’s dubious qualification for the 2010 World Cup. Thierry Henry clearly handled the ball twice before crossing for William Gallas to head home from point blank range.
Thierry Henry won’t be ordering a pint of Guinness in Dublin any time soon
This clearly strengthened the case for the introduction of new measures in football. Whether it’s video technology or extra officials behind the goal, there’s no doubt either of these would have prevented such an event from happening …

This is a topic which is quickly dismissed by fans of both Dundee and Dundee United, as you would expect, their rivalry is one of the most fierce in Scottish Football. Dundee are based on Dens Road, hence the name, Dens Park, with a capacity of 11,200. Their rivals, United, play at Tannadice Stadium which, ironically enough, is located on Tannadice Street with a capacity of 14,209. However, on Sandeman Street, the two clubs are just a few hundred yards away from each other on the same road, making them …

When you think of inspiring Liverpool European performances, the magnificent triumph in the Champions League Final in 2005 springs to mind. In 2009, Liverpool face a different challenge, as they prepare for three matches which ultimatley will seal their Champions League fate for this season, Lyon, Debrecen & Fiorentina stand in the way of Rafa Benitez’s side. Would the failure of Champions League exit at the groups and not winning the Premier League crown be the catalyst for a Bentiez exit?
Firstly, Liverpool will travel to the French city of Lyon …
