After the 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge five weeks ago the Premier League title looked beyond Arsenal but suddenly all that has changed.
With just nine matches to go The Gunners suddenly find themselves in a great position after putting together a run of four straight Premier League wins to leave them just two points off the lead and with an easier looking run in. In fact some bookmakers are now making Wenger’s men favourites to land their first title in six years and who would have thought that after the defeat …

With the World Cup approaching, I have decided to name my England squad and starting eleven for the World Cup. There will be many shock inclusions and will include players doubtful for the finals.
Goalkeepers
Possibly the weakest area in the team with in my view little options and what I consider weak compared to some of the other teams.
JOE HART is my first choice at the minute as I think he is currently the best goalkeeper in the Premier League due to his outstanding form for Birmingham City.
BEN FOSTER would be my …

Ola Angola! 16 teams started the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Angola. Now only 8 remain after the completion of the group stage of the competition. The tightest of the groups was undoubtedly Group D which had Cameroon, Gabon, Zambia and Tunisia. It was an exciting day on Thursday as all the four teams had a chance of making the quarterfinals. Zambia, though, stole the limelight on a day they started at rock bottom before finishing group winners based on goal difference.
The Copper Bullets have been trying to …

At the halfway stage of the Premier League season, many teams are looking at their position as a base for the rest of the season so they know if they should improve or if they over or under achieving. Some of my predictions have gone horribly wrong (Liverpool winning the title, Fulham finishing 15th) but here are my predictions for the rest of the eason.
Title Chasers
Chelsea are my favourites to win. They have looked fantastic under Ancelotti minus Wigan and could win comfortably. Arsenal I think will be second because …

Football fans have a multitude of reasons to expect the forthcoming season to be one of the most exciting in recent memory. With four blockbuster leagues, a number of fascinating transfer deals and a World Cup to ponder over, it’s fair to say this season won’t be short on entertainment.
England
The English Premier league is often criticised for being predictable, with Manchester United being the title favourites most years, but this year the league really has been blown open. The loss of Ronaldo has weakened United whilst both Chelsea and Liverpool …

The 2009/2010 Premier League Season promises to be one of the most competitive and exciting seasons we’ve ever had, after the spending-spree of Man City who have spent in excess of £90 million. In that same time United have spent only £17 million and Chelsea £20 million. Is money the answer to breaking into the top four?
Two games into the Premier League season and we have already had upsets and shocks. Tottenham, who this time last year were bottom of the league, are sitting proudly on top of the League …

When Chris Foy’s final whistle reverbarated around Villa Park in May and Newcastle United were relagated to the Coca-Cola Championship, Toon fans would have been forgiven for fearing their club was beginning to fade into footballing obscurity.
Luckily for them – and frustratingly for others – there is very little chance of that now happening, with the producers of the BBC’s ‘Football League Show’ apparently insistant on giving Newcastle disproportanate coverage at every opportunity.
Newcastle’s first game in English football’s second tier at West Brom, for example, was always going to be …

So we’re one game in and the jury’s already out, cast it’s vote and gone off to eat their cocktail sausages. Arsenal are back to their scintillating best, Rooney’s in his favourite position and the Hull manager still cares more about his fake tan than anything to do with football.
However, with a couple of weeks still left of the transfer window there’s still time left for a few more swings and roundabouts. Rumour mongering is still fierce and before proper form kicks in our best avenue for crystal ball gazing …

Well, here we are at the start of another season of football. There will be goals aplenty, controversial decisions, penalties, off sides, back passes, career threatening challenges, but how will it all end?
This could be one of the most open Premier League races in five years or more. The monopoly of the big four, threatened by big spending Manchester City and the gutsy performances from the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
At the other end of the table, newly promoted sides Burnley, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham will …

With another summer of transfer madness thankfully slowing to a gradual standstill, it seems that everybody has a different opinion as to who will win the Premier League.
“I’m going for Liverpool to win the title. They looked so good at the end of last season and I also think they’ll have the top goalscorer in Fernando Torres.” – Teddy Sheringham
“Adebayor up front with Tevez – unbelievable. And they have Roque Santa Cruz and Robinho too. What a strike force. That’s it. City are champions for sure.” – Jose Mourinho
“I think this …
