Here is a team by team breakdown of how the season went. It wasn’t the most memorable in footballing terms but its had its fair share of surprises, particularly at the end.
1.Man Utd: At the start of the season Alex Ferguson realised something. He knew the Rooney wasn’t up to the task of getting the goals he needed for his team to win back the title from the noisy neighbours. There was however a perfect solution to this problem and his name was Van Persie. And immediately he made his …

The season is coming to an end and a lot of history being made, Lampard breaking Chelsea‘s top-scorer record, Ferguson retire after winning Man United’s 20th league title, Wigan win the FA Cup in dramatic fashion and get relegated just 3 days after that win and a lot more, a lot of debuts, managers got sacked and manager got hired and for me there were 11 players that just stand out. This team is a 4-4-2 formation.
GK: Simon Mignolet – The Sunderland goalkeeper has kept 11 clean sheet thoughout the season …

Footballing world meet Jason Collins. On 29th April 2013, the 34-year old, 12 year professional basketball player became the openly gay active athlete in the four major sports (Baseball, American Football, Ice Hockey and Basketball) in the USA. Collins took the leap by writing his own article in Sports Illustrated giving him a chance to tell his story. He was over-loaded with support from fans, celebrities and professionals alike with only a few negative comments being given the chance to gain a few ratings for networks. Consensus seems to be …

Firstly, I must say as a Manchester United fan I was shocked and worried when it was announced that Sir Alex Ferguson was retiring. He has been at the helm for longer than my generation has been alive, and as a fan I can only thank him for the countless great memories he has given the club. It took a few minutes to get my head around the fact that Sir Alex would not be manager of Manchester United next season and when it did finally sink in, naturally my …

I’m ashamed. I’m ashamed because as much as I love football, homophobic attitudes within the game go unchecked, with authorities unconscionably reluctant to intervene. Sepp Blatter’s comment that gay fans travelling to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup “should refrain from any sexual activities” typifies how out of touch FIFA is, but the problems go deeper. Brighton and Hove Albion supporters are routinely abused by other fans because of their city’s large LGBT population, and the FA hasn’t moved a muscle to stop it.
This shouldn’t be an issue. Homophobia in …

Stepping up for a freekick within shooting range, Gareth Bale was prepared to repeat the late magic against West Ham and Southampton, but it was the clown of the season Emmanuel Adebayor who rescued Tottenham‘s Champions League dream.
Andre Villas-Boas returned to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his short stint with the Blues. There were not much welcoming nor booing for the young Portuguese, as the home fans continued to show no love towards their interim manager, who again left Frank Lampard and John Terry on the bench.
Tottenham does …

I’ve been watching football since I was about 10 and I’m 33 now so during my lifetime of watching it I have never known a time without Sir Alex Ferguson in English football, but today he has stepped down and will no longer be in charge of Manchester United. Although it’s a shock he is 71 and is due to have a hip operation so taking a step back its probably not a massive surprise and having won everything there is to win then it’s probably a good time to …

They had twice turned it around at West Brom in the weekend. Last night at home, they simply gifted it away. Twice leading Swansea, Wigan threw away the match in hand and left themselves in the worst possible situation ahead of the Wembley trip.
Triumph at Wembley could mean nothing if they will be in the Championship next season. The Latics knew they had to battle, and they came out fighting from the very first minute. Without the injured Maynor Figueroa and Antolin Alcaraz, club captain Gary Caldwell was recalled. Being …

As Robin Van Persie strode away to the corner flag having slotted a gorgeous volley past a helpless Brad Guzan, all Manchester united fans and players alike will have been basking in the glory of another dominant season in the premier league. However, Sir Alex Ferguson has proved over 26 years that his mind works in unique ways and he will have no doubt already have turned his attentions to the defence of his premier league crown. And despite winning the title in emphatic fashion, there are still obvious problems …

Whilst researching for another article I made a point of watching both Match of the day and The Football League Show and just as I was making notes I happened to spot 20 Sheiks in the crowd. In the modern game you would maybe expect that, but at London Road, home of Peterborough United?? Are The Posh about to get investment of the Saudi oil dollar? Further investigation of the crowd revealed Bananaman in attendance with his friend the Hulk. In other games Crawley Towns game had hundreds of Hartlepool …
