Chelsea’s Florent Malouda set to sign for Napoli?

25 June 2013 by

Florent who? Yes Florent Malouda who is currently a free agent may consider making a move to Napoli to rejoin his former boss Rafa Benitez who did not even consider him for the first team at Chelsea. Malouda played last season for the Chelsea reserves where he was left in limbo after he was not considered a first team player by Benitez and he was unable to negotiate a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The French midfielder is linked with the likes of Olympiakos and Marseille and he mentioned to the press that he is weighing up his options for the time being. Malouda is yet to decide his future and he is delighted to find himself in a position that will dictate his future.

The return of Jose Mourinho may influence Malouda’s decision in leaving or staying as he is currently available on free agent so other clubs may look to pick him up. With the likes of Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Oscar and Victor Moses more likened to play Malouda may look to leave his horror year behind him and make a new start somewhere else.

Malouda was a key player for Chelsea in the 2009-10 season where he scored 15 goals and 15 assists in all competitions a record which helped Chelsea win the premier league title. It is puzzling why Chelsea treated Malouda in this way and he may look to sign for a club abroad to boost his World Cup squad hopes where he was neglected by the French coach Didier Deschamps simply because he was not getting any game time for his club.

The 33 year old may make one last stand with his career as it may have prematurely ended in disappointing fashion. Its up to Malouda for the time being to decide his future as we may see him light up another European league with his world class dribbling, crossing and ball control abilities.
