Colonel Gaddafi’s Blue and White Army?

Al-Saadi Gaddafi is set to launch a fresh takeover bid for crisis-club Portsmouth, as the club struggle to find the finance to pay their players.

Reports have speculated for much of the day that Gaddafi, the third-eldest son of Colonel Gaddafi, is ready to save the club from the threat of liquidation.

The 36-year-old currently runs the Libyan Football Federation and has previously played for Italian Serie A team U.C. Sampdoria, before a failed drugs test saw the end of his playing career.

In terms of a lifestyle, Gaddafi routinely socialises with celebrities such as 50 Cent, Nicole Kidman and Anna Kournikova. Described as a playboy, he once crashed a 130-foot yacht into a wharf, which led to his expulsion from the illustrious Billionaire’s Club.

Being a former member of the Billionaire’s Club will come as great comfort to Portsmouth fans, with Libyan having an estimated wealth of $8bn,

The money is much needed at Fratton Park, with CEO Peter Storrie reportedly stating he couldn’t guarantee that the players could be paid this month on time.

This statement took place at a meeting today between players, the PFA and the man in the frame, Storrie.

Stoke-bound goalkeeper David James is rumoured to have been in attendance, calling Storrie every name under the sun, frustrated over the lack of communication between the club and playing staff.

Worryingly, players were suggested to have threatened to walk this week if they are not paid on time, in which Storrie replied he couldn’t guarantee that to be the case.

In other news, striker David Nugent has returned from his loan spell at Burnley. The two clubs are said to be negotiating a fee for the striker, yet it remains unlikely Nugent will make an appearance against West Ham tomorrow evening.
