I officially hate the Ricoh Arena now, absolute woeful at home and we aren’t going to improve, home form is shocking and I can see Colchester and Hartlepool to beat us in the next few weeks, rubbish at home. How can we expect to win a game when we sit so deep. Credit to Swindon, deserved the win and battered us throughout, best team at the Ricoh this season, great support to. I don’t think we can get play offs now, the home form is dreadful. Oh and what about the referee, worst ever referee I’ve ever seen! Second goal the ball wasn’t even in the D for the corner, and how the hell has he booked Murphy when they are making a substitute, dreadful! We might as well just give Lee Carsley the job until the end of the season, new manager in summer to change everything around on the pitch. I really hope we do win against Hartlepool considering it’s my birthday, it be the worst birthday ever if we don’t win. Been such a rubbish week for us, being placed under a transfer embargo and the clubs chief executive Tim Fisher coming out to say we are close to going bust. We are genuinely in the S**t now.
This time I’m including the teams! The bold names means the cards, as you can tell the referee wanted us to be an all yellow team.
Coventry City: Joe Murphy, Carl Dickinson, Aaron Martin, Nathan Cameron, Cyrus Christie, Franck Moussa (Cody McDonald 88), James Bailey, Carl Baker (c), Gary McSheffrey (David Bell 78), Steven Jennings, Leon Clarke Subs: Chris Dunn (GK), Jordan Clarke, Connor Thomas, John Fleck, William Edjenguele
Swindon Town: Wes Foderingham, Jay McEveley, Aden Flint, Simon Ferry (Luke Rooney 65), James Collins (Adam Rooney 71), Gary Roberts (Raffaele De Vita 81), Alan McCormack (c), Nathan Thompson, Andy Williams, Tommy Miller, Darren Ward Subs: Leigh Bedwell (GK), Joe Devera, Alan Navarro, Louis Thompson
Attendance 14,280 (3,000 away) very surprised how it was dead on 3000, cracking support though!
Lee Carsley kept the same unchanged squad that beat Bournemouth on Tuesday. It was a lively first minute as Gary McSheffrey’s back pass almost let in a Swindon player only for City to get it out for a corner, he did however redeem himself as he intercepted a ball and on the counter attack played in Franck Moussa who fired past keeper Wes Foderingham and give City the lead in the first minute, great attack! All through the game the city centre back pair of Nathan Cameron and Aaron Martin looked shaky and on numerous of occasions let the Swindon forwards in, City were lucky to still be one up as on the counter Simon Ferry was played in and a clear shot on goal bringing out a save from Murphy who pushed it over the bar with a two handed save. Through the game both Leon Clarke and Coventry kid James Collins were both being booed by both fans respectively, Clarke for the bust up he had with ex manager Paulo Di Canio in a horrid Swindon career and Collins who couldn’t even wait a day to join the skyblues even though he says he supports us. Swindon again should have scored as Andy Williams was played in and someone he put the ball wide with a rushing out Murphy leaving his goal open, miss of the season! Swindon went even closer as again Cameron was bullied off the ball with Williams again going even closer poking a shot pass Murphy and hitting the post with the rebound being cleared for a corner, not sure if Murphy saved it or not. Gary Roberts then has a free kick comfortably saved by Murphy. It was Coventry though who finished the half with 2 chances with left back Carl Dickinson firing just wide with a decent effort and Clarke at the back post who headed just wide from a corner, should have done better. I had no idea how we went in a half time in the lead!
I was hoping for a much better performance second half for the skyblues but it didn’t show as the first chance went to the away side as captain McCormack brought out another great save by Murphy as he tipped over again. Somehow we didn’t go 2-0 up surprisingly! Carl Baker sent in a great cross for Leon Clarke who headed home only for Foderingham to save at point blank range as he dived to his left to keep it out, what I call a world class acrobatic saved! It was the away side who then went close, Flint heading over from inside the six yard box. Swindon constant threat shown as on the attack as Adam Rooney show was saved by Murphy then the rebound hitting the post with Williams there to bundle the ball home. No sooner they went ahead, now like I said the referee was dreadful as the corner for the second goal wasn’t even in the D box, the corner was sent in and Darren Ward, brother of Ex City player Elliot Ward headed in unmarked, dreadful defending. That was it for the second half.
Gutted to say the least but we were awful and Swindon deserved the points. Just hope we can pull something off from somewhere, not confident now. Roll on Scunthorpe Saturday! PUSB
