Cunningham Loan Spell Over

1 January 2011 by

On loan Manchester City left-back Greg Cunningham has suffered a broken leg in the 1-0 win against Hull City earlier today, in a clash between Tigers full-back Liam Rosenior. Rosenior was sent off for the challenge on Cunningham, but confirmed reports state that the Republic of Ireland international has broken his leg therefore his loan spell at Leicester City is now over.

Manager Sven Goran Eriksson was hoping to extend Cunningham’s loan until the end of the season, but his plans have been dealt a huge blow. Bruno Berner could well stay at Leicester City for now, as the Switzerland left-back said only weeks ago he would like to leave the club. With the transfer window now open, Sven could well opt to sign a left-back, just let’s hope Joe Mattock isn’t lined up for a return.

I would like to wish Greg Cunningham all the best on a speedy recovery.
