Danny Simpson has officially joined Championship side Ipswich Town on loan until the end of this season. The young right-back, a product of Man Utd’s youth academy, has made 8 appearances this season due to Gary Neville’s absence. However, with the Man Utd captain close to making a return to first-team action, Ferguson thought of giving Simpson the opportunity to play more games at Ipswich Town. This experience will surely give the young lad further knowledge of the game to be able to challenge Neville next season, and also to be able to fill his post once he decides to retire from the game.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s comments were, “It is good for the lad. The boy needs games and I have allowed him to go to Ipswich until the end of the season. They are a good football team and that will suit him fine.â€
Ipswich still have a chance of breaking into the promotion playoff section, sitting just two points behind 6th placed Plymouth, and having a game in hand. Simpson will surely play a major part in the outcome of Ipswich’s present season.
