According to the Belfast Telegraph, Marouane Fellaini has said he would prefer a move to David Moyes’ Manchester United than a move to Arsenal. The Belgian has been linked to a move to Arsenal for several weeks and he has changed his mind preferring a move to Old Trafford. Fellaini still has a release clause of £23.5 million in his contract and both Arsenal and Manchester United are yet to table an offer for the highly rated Belgian.
Arsenal are still pursuing a top line striker with Rooney as one of the candidates and Manchester United are eyeing a move for Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas after Thiago Alcantara opted for a move to Bayern Munich. Fellaini has been aware that both clubs are interested in him and he must play the waiting game even though his release clause ends in one month.
The presence of David Moyes at Manchester United favours Fellaini for a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been trying to strengthen their midfield for several weeks and if they miss out on Fabregas, it would be likely that Fellaini switches to the Manchester club. Marouane Fellaini already lives in Manchester which would make sense for a move to the current champions.
At Everton Marouane Fellaini was often played in the attacking midfielder or in a holding striker role and if signed by Manchester United he may push Rooney out of the club. Fellaini may also team up with Michael Carrick in the centre of midfield which would form a strong central midfield. It would be interesting to see whether Fellaini could have the same impact at Manchester United that he had at the Merseyside club.
