Manager Mark Stimson today revealed the club is holding talks with Stevenage Borough over a move for highly sought after goalkeeper Alan Julian. The 25 year old shot-stopper is available on free transfer and was at the KRBS Priestfield Stadium this morning for talks with the Gills. And an optimistic Mark Stimson said: “I’m quietly confident we will be able to add him to our squad and with Derek Stillie retiring, another goalkeeper would be good for competition.”
Alan Julian started his career at Brentford as a trainee, making 16 first team appearances for the Bees. He joined Stevenage in March 2005 and made an instant impact winning the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in his first season at Broadhall Way.
Meanwhile, experienced defender Danny Cullip will be leaving the club after opting not to extend his current deal. Stimson confirmed: “Danny and I spoke 10 weeks ago and agreed a deal, but when we sat down at the end of the season, he wanted something else in the deal regarding the length of the contract. We put something in writing but unfortunately Danny has turned it down.”
