Argentine midfielder Fernando Screpis claims he has three years remaining on his contract and that Hearts have treated him unfairly by cancelling it. “Hearts are telling me my contract is cancelled. According to the contract I signed last July I have three years left, so I am waiting for the club to contact me about this. I am sad to leave, but I don’t think I was given enough chances in the team.
The 29-year-old arrived at Tynecastle from FBK Kaunas in January and played only five times. Although he didn’t produce anything spectacular, Screpis did look a decent player. Hearts have no shortage of midfielders however and Screpis will not be missed too much.
Plymouth recently handed him a trial but the interest has ended there. Screpis becomes the second player in recent weeks to have his contract cancelled by the Edinburgh club after Mauricio Pinilla had the same done to him when he refused to sign a pay-as-you-play deal. French goalkeeper Anthony Basso could be the next victim.
