It was no secret, in the close season, that with Roberto Mancini at the helm of FC Internazionale; there was a dressing room bust-up, with him and the senior Inter players. He was a great coach, but the general concensus was that a change was needed, and that change came in the shape of Jose Mourinho.
And one of those players who felt they were being forced out of the San Siro, was Swede, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. All summer, speculation about a possible transfer to either Chelsea or Barcelona was circulating. But, it seems that the appointment of Mourinho has settled the striker, and many other players considering their future, down, and now he has praised the impact the Portugese coach has had already.
“I can only speak well of Mourinho. He is an excellent person, friendly and has an excellent relationship with all his players.
“He has already made Inter better. We’re now moving the ball quicker and the 4-3-3 formation means we’ll be more attacking.” Ibrahimovic has often been rightly accused of being lazy, but he is one of those players that needs to be loved. If he feels that he is being appreciated at his club, then he is one of the best strikers in the world.
Mourinho is already humouring the Italian media, with the personality that was much loved at Chelsea, and England for that matter. That was proved in a recent news conference:
When Carlo Ancelotti was asked last year if he feared your arrival at Milan, he said some controversial things about you. Why?
“You’ll have to ask him. And I think he forgot one important thing. In the history of Milan a super important coach was Arrigo Sacchi who never played football better than me. Personally, my dentist is fantastic and he’s never had toothache.”
Jose Mourinho has the oppertunity to bring home silverware in his first competitive match at the helm of the Nezzuri: the Italian Super Cup, which is set to be the season’s curtain raiser on August 24th, a season that promises much, but Inter fans will be happy with no less than the Champions League.
