Is Dalglish’s time up as Liverpool manager?
It’s March 10th and Liverpool have lost again, three in a row now for the first time since 2003, this time to Sunderland, a team who a couple of years ago they would have brushed past with ease. So what is going so drastically wrong, why have Liverpool gone from title challengers to mid table mediocrity in such little time? The problem started a long time ago before Dalglish was even the manager, when world class players such as Alonso and Mascherano were allowed to leave. Rafa Benitez left after bringing trophies to Merseyside , but never quite managed that elusive league title, and was replaced with the lovable Roy Hodgeson, who has since proved his worth at West Brom. Hodgson was not given enough time at Liverpool, and after just 17 games was sacked. However Hodgson’s record in those 17 games was better than Dalglish’s in his first 17, RH gaining 22 points and KD 21. So now Liverpool fans are starting to ask, is it time to move on from Dalglish?
In January 2011 Hodgson was sacked, and all was lined up for the return of legend King Kenny. It was the appointment Liverpool fans had been crying out for, and a heroes return was set to be an exciting one as Liverpool took on Everton. That match ended in a draw however, but everyone believed things were looking up. In that January transfer window Dalglish looked at the squad, and I believe this is the root of where it all started to go wrong for him. Spending 35 million on the unproven Andy Carroll, who has a less than impressive goal return. For that amount of money he could, and should have bought a player like Cavani or Lavezzi. He also bought the talented, but controversial Luis Suarez , who has set the Premier
League on fire whilst ruffling a fair few feathers along the way. Liverpool rumbled through the rest of that season at a steady pace, finishing 7th, ready to build for the next season, maybe even challenge for the title? However, it’s now March 2012, and they sit 7th yet again, millions of pounds spent, yet no better off.
The key to where it all went wrong this season, in the short term, is the transfers and decisions that Dalglish has made. In the summer transfer window he spent vast amounts of money on Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing all of whom have been less than impressive, and have counterparts who are a lot more able than they are for the same price or less. Much like with the Andy Carroll situation, Dalglish has made the wrong buys for ridiculous amounts of money. For instance Liverpool fans, would you swap Henderson, Adam, Downing and Carroll for Cavani, Hazard, Goetze and Mata for instance. Dalglish probably could have signed any of these players with the right bargaining skills and simply should have. The other problem, is that Liverpool have one of the worlds best defensive midfielders in Lucas Leiva, injured, long term. He is a shining light, and has been sorely missed this season with a bench with not much depth to cover his absence, Dalglish’s refusal to sign cover for him has cost the club greatly.
How many times this season have Liverpool fans been frustrated by Dalglish’s late substitutions, like the home game against Arsenal? A fresh injection of pace at about 70 minutes probably could have won that game. The sad thing is, things like this happen quite regularly this season for Liverpool and games which appeared to be winnable have been drawn or lost, costing uncountable points. The other talking point that cannot be ignored is Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan is undeniably talented, but is a frustrating character. In the Evra saga he made his club, his manager and even Liverpool fans look like fools, and the 8 game ban did not help Liverpool’s challenge for a top four spot. The way in which Dalglish handled the situation was also awful and unprofessional, and smacked of desperation, and it all could so easily have been avoided. The fact that he had to publicly apologise for his stance spoke volumes.
Liverpool have won the Carling Cup this season and could quite possibly win the FA cup too, and ths is obviously a great thing, silverware was needed. However if fourth is not achieved, the season will be seen as a failure. As a club with such a rich European history, the fans deserve to be in the Champions League. At the conclusion of today, the fourth spot is looking like a distant dream for another year, and many fans are starting to call for Dalglish’s head. I say give him until summer, there would be no point in changing managers now at this late stage. Two trophies would be a great achievement, and maybe, just maybe fourth can be squeezed out with a maximum amount of effort and results in other games going Liverpool’s way. I think whatever happens Dalglish needs to step down in the summer. He is a legend at Liverpool FC, and another year where the club don’t get fourth and perform badly could further tarnish his reputation. With a managerial merry go round soon to occur in the summer, it would be great to get a fresh, experienced top manager in to make new signings, and completely refresh the squad. Keeping a few important core players and building around that is the key to reviving Liverpool.
Writing as a neutral, I’m looking from the outside in. I know some Liverpool fans will stick with Dalglish until the end, but maybe, it is time to move on , before the legend destroys his hero status completely.

PETITION FOR: JOHN W. HENRY, THOMAS WERNER, DAMIEL COMOLLI, IAN AYRE
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/jose-mourinho-should-replace-kenny-dalglish-as/
Unfortunately things at LFC are getting pretty ugly after experiencing our third consecutive defeat in the premier league and I personally don’t see any way of recovery as long as Kenny Dalglish remains on helm! It is imperative for John W. Henry, Thomas Werner, Ian Ayre, and Damiel Comolli to finally realize this as well and finally to take the right decision as they can factually prove what they have been declaring from the very first moment they undertook the team that they want to transform it into a superpower football team again! It is so deplorably tragic watching LFC games and being possessed by the sentiment that this team does not actually have a manager who will scout and analyze the opponent teams and provide the right plan to the players as tactically can play orthodox football and beat their opponents! So, if Kenny Dalglish loves this club as he claims I am wondering how he can’t observe and perceive this reality and for the sake of the team to step down as LFC’s manager? Kenny was good just for the transitional period of moving from the ex-ownership to the current. Kenny is not good enough for the modernized football, thus, he is not the manager who will meet up with our high expectations!
what an unbiased write up,u are spot on mate
You’re not far off there, did’t think he should have come back myself, but still love him. Should think of the club and let a more up-to-date manager take over. As long as it’s not Rafa!
Liverpool finished 6th last season not 7th. There are 9 new players brought it, it doesn’t improve overnight.
Considering the club were nearly bankrupt 18 months ago, to win a Cup this season is improvement.
Unfair article i’m afraid.
Totally Correct analysis!!!
” loveable Roy” are you having a laugh
@Adam…………take them blinkers off, m8.
KD wasted a sinfull amount of money, on very average, overated and totally OVERPRICED british donkeys!!!!, and as this article states. that is when it all went wrong, you will NEVER make thoroughbreds out of donkeys, and that is exactly what we bought.
It is total disgrace. Both KD and Comolli need to stop making exuses and STEP DOWN.
Spot on spot on! Imagine spending ALL that money spent on those British donkey’s and spending it all on foreign talent.. Imagine WHO we could’ve had running around in red atm!! Every time I hear us being linked with another British player (e.g. Bent..) I just about die!
Good lets just keep sacking managers every year it seems to be working so well for Chelsea.
Sadly it is true that KD did get the transfers all wrong. If the team dont improve next season hes out !
Andy Carroll 35 mill pounds … What a waste … newcastle is still laughing …
I suspect that the answer KD will come up with is another bucketfull of English mediocrity! I stand by comments of last year. We had no need of Adam nor Downing nor Henderson and Carroll was simply a farce.
Don’t expect any change from Dalglish come Summer – In the boot we trust – and he should be given it!
What we started when FSG took over was a long term strategy, buying young players with potential and bring youth through the academy. Henderson for example i technically a very good player and one that flourished in the middle of the park for Sunderland and has been put a lot on the right this term. Tottenham were all but ready to let Bale go but look at him now!! Carroll was a mistake and he will leave in the summer. Enrique is one of the best left backs in the league, Suarez one of the best strikers and downing has shown what he can do at times, remember players take time to settle.
If we had a poacher who scored 20-30 goals a season where would we be in the league now?? Even if we had won half of the draws we have had we would be in forth!!
That poacher will be purchased in the summer and will give us the goals we need to push on. Liverpool have a history of backing managers and this is one the things that make Liverpool different to all the other clubs, the loyalty factor so lets not wish that away for a quick fix.
We are financially secure we have a great academy with the likes of Sterling, Suso ready to make the step up so lets just be patient with the situation!!
Fair comment…At the time of Carroll,Downing,Henderson and Adams purchase i was rather excited. I did however feel that Liverpool paid far too much for these players. As time went by we could see that these players were not making the grade at Liverpool. The problem i have and I think this has exposed KD somewhat is that he keeps playing these. Maxi for example was scoring goals but instead of keeping him in the side KD replaced him with Downing. As you say Kayla KD makes his changes too late in the game and i guess that is the problem I had with Rafa. Its evident that KD does not have a back up plan. As much as I love KD i concur its time for him to step down preferably at the end of the season.
I honestly saw this coming, right from when torres was allowed to leave, the aquilani, meireles, joe cole for carrol, henderson and adams….
SACK kenny dalglish and appoint FRANK RIJKAARD…. if not means just closed the club, don't spoil the club's name by loosing to underdog teams.
Hodgson’s record better than Dalglish?? What planet are you on?
http://liverpool.theoffside.com/team-news/roy-hodgson-and-kenny-dalglish-by-the-numbers.html
well we are all critisizing kenny but can anybody tell me was’nt henderson one of the top talent, downing was feared for his delivery and adam was banging goals and assists. In my view kenny has overpayed for downing and carrol but he is not the only one to blame mr commoli is the culprit. Come summer he will himself step down and i hope a fresh foreign manager with modern ideas will take over. Avb he was not given time by chelsea will be my choice. He will atleast not buy overpriced british plyrs.
im so glad that most of you all know how to put thing right with our club
i feel better now knowing you can save us .please save us and go and see John W Henry and say look how good i am at championship manager 2012 ..look
but i Don’t expect any change from Dalglish (but if he goes you do it )
get a life
and Dalglish can do articles so we are all happy
We are an optimistic bunch but lets face facts. Kenny bought a load of boring slow clueless players and spent a shed load of money. If he isn’t going to buy us a goalscorer from abroad then he should be sacked.
as comolli not had anythink to do with this,im happy with the way we playing this season we are not scoring enough true so in the summer we will fix that, are you sure your fans cant believe some of the crap im reading, carling cup won fa cup doing well were making more shooting chances than any other team we hit woodwork 21 times so we need a bit of luck, downing put plenty of crosses he cant do nothink about players not getting on the end of them, people like you live to see the negative side of life if we were 4th now you wouldnt make any money off sad negative articles, the first year do you think we should of won carling cup fa cup and the league get behind the club and not on its back, your like half the man u supporters who walked out when they were 3 1 down not worth a carrot
Rafa Benitez has made all his castigators look like fools including the English press in London; the simple liverpool fans who read from them and believe them. It is obvious that the strength of this liverpool team are still his signings including belamy! We need him back asap!
please get him out of liverpool he’s really a bad manager and a bad scouter of talent players ..he think henderson and caroll are his best talents … those two players were being payed 55 million pounds on them ..it is really a disaster ..how we payed that kind of money on them….in reality if i play in exchange with them I would be more responsible that I’m playing to liverool not newcastle and sunderland were there both caroll and henderson were playing from their heart taking responsibilities …and the more misrable thing is dalglish assurance on them an inserting them in all matshes..instead of bringing a striker as tevez in january ..and dalglish should pay this mistake and be sacked … because every person came to liverpool after Houllier was working to himself and not for the club and crowd …stop searshing on these kinds of managers ..go bring morinuho or hidenk and search for this kinds of managers
Your write up would be okay but you missed out the small part of Torres leaving which left Kenny in the crap which then led to Andy Carroll being purchased when he couldn’t get Mario Gomez from Bayern.
In my opinion if people wanted the best for Liverpool Football Club we would have Rafa in for tactics and Kenny in the Paco role, also Rafa had Danny Alves and Simao in the bag to join us and David Moores lost his bottle and sold out to the BAD yanks who then put Parry in charge of buying
and we missed out on two great players.Rafa felt Parry undermined his choice of players with the pittance `kitty` he was afforded and tried for the`positions`he felt he needed on untried but good players and mostly internationals, the culmination being the Barry/Keane farce and the can of worms known as Hicks and Gillett, then there was the `LFC` fan Purslow (a BANKER if ever there was one)deciding he knew what was best for us and, putting Parry in his place, started Rafa`s demise to replace him with Hodgson yes Roy Hodgson instead of Rafa????I was pleased that Kenny was in but only because Hodgson was so wrong for us as a club and Kenny first time around was tactically left wanting, now we have that plus the players bought not producing the goods as often as they should as Liverpool players, also in my opinion God2(Gerrard) had far too much influence on first team runnings and was also an influence on Rafa`s departure.King Kenny and Rafa could make us unbeatable, without Comolli, without Clarke/Keen, and with Jamie starting his coaching, leading to the ultimate managers job.
Would TRUE LFC fans tell me what they think for right now i`m gutted YNWA
people keep forgetting the home grown rule, which meant players like downing and henderson were bought bcoz of,a top class right winger,a striker and a centre back in the summer and we will be sorted
Bring bck raffa "i was ova the moon this tym last year," YNWA
Looks like a derby win for Everton to me
You’re a joke. This site is a joke. This article is a joke. Not that this will get read, you will just delete it like you did my last comment, for pointing out the factual inaccuracies in this tripe.
These days I feel very happy when Liverpool loses because that is a reflection of the truth about the club overall. If players motivated themselves and won everything,it would have fooled everyone because Kenny is mule headed, stuborn and does not want to listen to anyone so he must get what he deserves,LOSSSSSSS after LOSSSSSSSS
If rafa had the money kd has spent, in his time as liverpool manager we would have been rite up there in mix to win the league. Rafa wos the best thing that happened to us for years, on a shoe string budget wot he done wos amzing. I have nothing but respect for the man, plz bring rafa back. Ynwa rafa you were the best.
John Henry & Tom Werner should sit down with KD at the end of the season even if we win the FA cup and tell him to step down / another role at the club, and bring back Rafa to come and finish some unfinished business with a stable boardroom and a decent amount of funds, imho he is the man to put fergie in his place and bring home the title we all crave, he pushed every season for title & CL glory with little or no funds and constantly fighting 3 battles, Fergie, mourine and the 2 inhouse texas cowboys and yet with the low budget foreigners mixed with the torres, alonso, macsherano, gerrard etc.. at least scoring goals and beating the lesser teams specialy at Anfield. If not Rafa then bring someone who is a young and attack minded manager who will take us forward with some decent foreign players with technical ability and get rid of the british donkeys we currently have who do not have the skill to get past the first man as wingers / attacking midfielders … we still have kuyt, maxi and bellamy at the club and we also have aqualani, Pachecho and cole on loan, and few youngsters we can bring through who would probably do a better job of showing skill and attacking football and scoring goals than our current first team.
KD should never have taken the job, at ;east for this timescale, this was bound to happen. I think he should have only taken a short contract to steady the ship and that is it. The feel good factor was back and that was enough, this should have paved the way for a big and modern manager to come in and take the reins.
I love Kenny don’t get me wrong but he is already a legend for other things in other times and he has nothing more to prove.
I also don’t think Raffa is the key either, we should never have gone back and I feel we should not do it again either, let Raffa move on to new projects.
The article appears to have been written by someone who has only watched a handful of games but read a lot of newspaper coverage. Hence, were given a rehash of standard, simplistic views for the casual back page reader.
Bad buys and subs being used too late, I am sure it’s that simple.
Hopefully the author will treat us to a summary of the Benitez years: zonal marking, Gerrard on the right and rottion, rotation, rotation!
The sooner KD,DC,Adam,Downing,Henderson leave the better. They do not belong to the premier league category.Look at Matta,Aguero,Tevez,Van Der Vart,Robin Van Perse,Drogba,Chicharito Hernandez,Rooney,Gareth Bale,Berbatov and see how they can turn things around. There must be better elements and tools of success than the aforementioned players in Liverpool’s squad.
'Hodgson’s record in those 17 games was better than Dalglish’s in his first 17, RH gaining 22 points and KD 21'……err, RH was sacked after 20 league games in which he got 25 points, with KD getting 33 points in the remaining 18 games.
I agree that Dalglish maybe should go in the summer but I don’t agree with your reasons and find a lot to disagree with in the article. Seems like a collection of well vaunted, simplistic opinions of different journalists collected under one roof, I am sure there is more to Liverpools woes than a bad transfer policy and a lack of timely substitutions.
Firstly, Liverpool never simply let Alonso and Mascerano go as you claim, both wanted to go. Alonso wanted to go because Benitez tried, unsuccessfully, to sell him the previous season to raise funds to sign Gareth Barry. Alonso responded by playing by far and away his best season which enabled them to get 30 million for a player they couldn’t sell for 12 million 11 months earlier. Mascerano on the other hand had a wife who hated England, he agreed to stay on an extra season for Benitez to find a replacment.
You make the point that Hodgeson was not given enough time. That may be so, but by the time he sacked, his style of football and the rubbish he’d spouted from day one had led him being despised by Liverpool fans. A situation which couldn’t continue. Liverpool fans were just happy to have someone who made sense and was proud to be their manager, not to mention getting the players actually playing football again. By the way, should Hodgeson been given til the end of the season same as your advocating for Dalglish?
As for the Dalglish transfers I agree they have been overpriced and uninspiring almost to a man. However it is far from clear who is responsible for transfers. Is it Dalglish, the owners or Comolli? Downing, Henderson and Adam were definatly bought because of their OPTA stats which suggests the owners had a lot to do with these purchases (their success with the Red Sox is largely down to buying players bases on stat analysis).
Your Suarez evaluation is predictable and shallow. Yes he has done enormous damage to the club but that’s hardly his fault, maybe if you read the FA report you’ d have a better understanding of the whole Suarez Evra case. Suarez used a colloquial term on a player who isn’t even a native spanish speaker. Evra viewed video evidence of the match with the FA three times before the hearing, changing his statment every time and still what he claims Suarez said doesn’t make sense in Uraquayan Spanish! Suarez never saw the video evidence or met with the FA before the hearing and has never changed the word he claimed he used to Evra.
Liverpool and Dalglish’s response are understandable, they feel their player is being victimised. Dalglish actaully installed John Barnes as manager of Celtic in the 90′s while director of football there, I would really have a hard time believing that he’d back a rascist. Unfortunatly it looks like a witch hunt with hardly anyone daring to scratch below the surface, it’s easier to be a sheep.
You mentioned that Lucas is one of the best midfielders in the world and that Liverpool are seriously missing him (interestingly, Benitez was given an enormous amount greif for paying 5 mill for him as an eventual replacement for Mascerano). He is a decent defensive midfielder but Liverpool under Dalglish have never been reliant on the defensive midfielder role, his rave reviews earlier in the season have been more about him saving the teams blushes and playing well in a team playing badly.
Pesonally, I think the main problem with Liverpool is that Dalglish is stuck in a different era, Liverpool have gone back to the boring defensive, passing team they once were. Teams are much fitter and better organised than before and able to harry Liverpool out of their passing game or simply keep them contained in their own half of the pitch. Liverpool generally perform against bigger clubs who allow them to play, Liverpool struggle against smaller clubs who show them respect and shut up shop or close them down in midfield. I saw Charlie Adam chomping a pizza after a game in Oslo in August, hopefully the diet hasn’t gone back to the eighties as well!
I am a DIEHARD Liverpool fan and have been 4ever..kenny has to go for the sake of the club, his resigning all those years ago is the reason man u has surpassed us for most titles. Not saying hat united wouldn't have won the league but they wouldn't have passed us. Kenny's time has long passed and his inability to make substitutions at the right time is the reason for lost and drawn games this season..
KD have to go for the sake of the club. KD’s subsititions are not only late, but stupid. When we need goals, he bring off Bellamy, while not bringing on Maxi (who can score), but bring on Downing who dont have a goal or even an assist in the 8 months.
This is a totally evidence in KD’s incapable to become a manager in the modern age.
His ego has come to him with him continue to play Carroll, Donwning,. Henderson and Adam, which do not perform. I really dont understand, when Maxi & Bellamy scores, then suddenly they are not in the team next game because, KS dont want people to think that he spend more than 70mil on British flops.
torres leaving forced kenny to gamble on carroll or comolli bought him but kenny has bought jose enrique and suarez, henderson is 21 and bellamy is class but downing might play well in a better team but charlie adam is worse than aquaman, and kenny has sold alot ov bums but never got cover for lucas did he have the money? chill out lets see if we win fa cup and see what happens in june /july get a striker and cover for lucas and a right winger and sell adam and suarez now he wants to go to paris and buy/loan off man city javi martinez and fernano lorentte and adam johnson/eden hazard.
The newspapers and public always go on about the £115M Kenny spent on players during his time at club, but seem to forget that the club generated £70-£80M on player sales, Torres, Babel, Riera, Dossena,Bennayoun,Ngog,Meireles,Insua and Ayala.
So the owners have basically spent £35-£45M in reality,
King Kenny and Commoli need to clear out 5 players at end of the season and they need to bring in these 7 players to change dimension of team/squad, club, The club are and have been in desperate need of speed, pace, width, flair and creativity in the side for the last 4 -5 years now. And two defensive players need to be brought to club to toughen up and strengthen side also. The owners need to back King Kenny heavily this summer, they need to spend £120-£140M on these 7 players and we will be competing with the title again.
And King Kenny needs to spend the money on quality class players who will improve the squad quite considerably:
Outs:
1: Joe Cole for £2-£3M
2: Maxi Rodriguez for £2M
3: Fabio Aurelio Free Transfer
4: Dirk Kuyt for £8-£10M
5: A Aquilani for £5-£10M
Ins:
Defensive Players:
1: Hummels OR Subotic’ Of Borussia Dortmund for £10-£17M (CB)
2: C Tiote Of Newcastle, Javi Martinez Of A Bilbao, M’Villa Of Rennes, B Matuidi Of PSG Or Moussa Sissoko Of Toulouse, One of the tough, strong defensive midfielders/enforcers should be brought to club to compete with Lucas and Spearing for Defensive Midfielder/Enforcer starting position at club for £15-£18M. (DM)
Creative players/Cutting edge:
3: Junior Hoillet Of Blackburn should be brought to club for £3-£5M (RW)
4: Jonathan Biabiany Of Sampdoria (On loan at Parma), Pablo Hernandez Of Valencia, Jefferson Montero Of Real Betis Or Pedro Of Barcelona, One of these wingers should be brought to club for £15-£20M. (RW)
5: Diego Capel Of Sporting De Clube Portual Or Scott Sinclair Of Swansea, One of these Left footed left wingers should be brought to the club to give Downing competition and to keep him on his toes for £5-£16M. (LW)
6: Willian Of Shakhtar Donesk, Valbuena Of Marseille, C Eriksen Of Ajax, Ozil Of Real Madrid, Coutinho Of Inter Milan, Diego Of Wolfsburg( On Loan at Athletico Madrid) , One of these skillful creative midfielders should be brought to club for £12-£18M. (AM)
7: Higuain Or Benzema Of Real Madrid should be brought to club, preferably Higuain for £25-£32M. FD club are in desperate need of out and out finisher at club and Higuain would solve that problem!!!!!!!
Those 7 players would bring back the excitement to fans and bring the club silverware season in season out and with those 7 players we would be able to compete with the two Manchester clubs and Tottenham for the league every season.
The owners need to dip in their pockets and sanction £95-£125M for these players and then the we can play numerous formations and be dangerous. And we will give our £35 striker the service he desperately needs to get back to terrorising defenders week in week out.
Bring back Rafa…….does anyone remember his last few months! The man was responsible for alonso leaving! He is the last thing we need.Kenny is not getting it done right now and the players he bought are shite…..that's his main problem.Bring on next year and you can bet your arse that something happens in the summer…..liverpool for life!
Dalglish will do what he did before when the going got tough at Liverpool. He'll just walk away
Fergal Murray Absolutely spot on, mate. It's all down to Dalglish subscribing to the mantra that "You can always walk alone, but you can never f88k alone". YNFA.
The way to a player’s good performance is through his stomach. Admittedly, Kenny Dalglish has forgotten this simple rule. For Carroll, Henderson, Adam and Downing to performance at their best each competitive week, the king has got to feed them well. Dalglish only needs to remember that he bought a donkey (Carroll), some mules (Henderson, Adam & Downing) to complement his existing pair of jackasses (Lucas & Carragher). So come on KING KENNY… GET THE CARROTS DELIVERED TO ANFIELD THIS INSTANT!
stupid comments – kenny is a bigger man than both of you and walked away cos of the burden of the 96!
Kenny was brought in to essentially steady the ship, a chance was taken and for the reason it was taken it paid off but after that they gave him longer which was not a good idea.
He was never going to take the extra step needed in this day. Saying that I think that the type of players we went for were possibly due to the vision of the owners and Camoli in some respects. When they came in they said they wanted to build for the future with youth etc and take on Arsenals way. Camoli seems to have a big say in whom comes in and Kenny seems happy for this to happen and concentrate on dealing with what he is given but is consulted at times, if you believe what you read.
Again however the manager has to take responsibility for some of the subs and tactics employed.
Kenny dalglish need more time bt he also need to brought in players to compete with henderson, adam, downing and he should sell suarex nd carol bcus they are delivering that is they are not scoring goals. We need quality playes who can deliver not riff raff like those mentioned above
Kenny has to go, He is just screwing up further. His signings are just so poor, Except for suarez. They have transformed LFC into One dimensional team. Since kenny`s players are not performing, why the F*&% he not get the youths to play, At least I would have a reason if we loose to S`land, The last time Kenny Quite after Everton game, I guess he is gonna do the same after Tuesday.
Hugdson was a load of rubbish, Rafa after long time.Kenny lost his game. Bring in The special One.
I agree Kenny has to go. First of all if he is restructuring, I would reckon he put in some of the younger players seeing in the position we are we not going to progress till the end of the season. am sure those lads would perform better than the lads in the first team. Second point, his changes don't make sense if he doesn't make them at the right time or before the right time. Third he doesn't seem tough on the players. he has a go at the press or the association but on his players he's just like a beaten hubby. He should go by the economic crisis. Not performing lets cut down cost. go play in the reseve team. Caroll we've been waiting him to come good since he came out of injury. damn u take a season to come good. Adam is as if he got grandeur now he's playing for liverpool. Suarez well selfish. Downing lost his flair. Gerrard: the team burnt him down. he carried LFC all these years. Dug them out of the mud every single time. He's tired. Body language says it all. Carra age is getting to him. Past Seasons LFC was the team which was shooting at the goal. We were known and feared for that. There is no movement. Static team on the green and moving down the table. Actually that's the only place where LFC really makes a move. I dnt really know who is the best man to appoint but certainly its not Kenny. The board should really hv a look at this. Dnt get me wrong, even if I live abroad am a die hard LFC fan. I dnt eat and can't sleep wen LFC Loses or Draws, but we should face it. Kenny should go. AND KENNY SHOULD ACCEPT THE FACT INSTEAD OF SAYING GOALS WILL COME.
There is one point that I cannot ignore. Forget the money for players sold vs bought argument, or that Torres getting sold forced Kenny’s hand to buy a striker.
The point is this. We bought Carroll injured. ‘Yes’ injured! We overpayed for someone during the christmas transfer window and he was only fit for 1 game. So the question is – Why overpay for an injured player if they are not fit enough to jump straight into the first team?
Would we have bought Carroll in the Summer? (maybe)
Would we have paid less? (yes)
Would there have been better targets available for less money? (Yes).
I could keep going on this one.. But the fact remains that it’s not just bad business, it’s stupid. Shows absolutely no foresight, intelligence, and basically just pissed away 35mil to please the crowd… Not good enough.
Barbapapa Man no matter what he has to walk away now. he taking LFC down the drain
Forced kenny to gamble on Carroll. HE was injured dude. Better kept the money and wait for July and get someone else. This guy can't even run. U want to see if we win the FA Cup. Against Stoke ur kidding me. He's just screwing the team more than the previous owners.
I agree Kenny has to go. First of all if he is restructuring, i would reckon he put in some of the younger players seeing in the position we are we not gonna progress till the end of the season. am sure those lads would perform better than the lads in the first team. Second point, his changes don’t make sense if he doesn’t make them at the right time or before the right time. Third he doesn’t seem tough on the players. he has a go at the press or the association but on his players he’s just like a beaten hubby. He should go by the economic crisis. Not performing lets cut down cost. go play in the reseve team. Caroll we’ve been waiting him to come good since he came out of injury. damn u take a season to come good. Adam is as if he got grandeur now he’s playing for liverpool. Suarez well selfish. Downing lost his flair. Gerrard: the team burnt him down. he carried LFC all these years. Dug them out of the mud every single time. He’s tired. Body language says it all. Carra age is getting to him. Past Seasons LFC was the team which was shooting at the goal. We were known and feared for that. There is no movement. Static team on the green and moving down the table. Actually thats the only place where LFC really makes a move. I dnt really know who is the best man to appoint but certainly its not Kenny. The board should really hv a look at this. Dnt get me wrong, even if i live abroad am a die hard LFC fan. i dnt eat and can’t sleep wen LFC Loses or Draws, but we should face it. Kenny should go. AND KENNY SHOULD ACCEPT THE FACT INSTEAD OF SAYING GOALS WILL COME.
Wats with all the kenny hating? The man is a LEGEND and if asked will take a back seat if its for the good of the club.. He would step aside if a manager like FRANK RIJKAARD was to be appointed.. He will bring the young players through like he did at Barca and watch out world we will once again become the best team on the planet.. YNWA
I tend to agree with all the calls for Kenny to be replaced. Bad buys, bad team selection, bad tactics and the inability to change a game with substituations. Defense, quite sound at the back with the addition of Enrique, but what has to be the weakest midfield i can remember in a Liverpool team (Gerrard aside). No real pace, no creativity, no combative ball winner, unable to unlock opposition defense. Plus the fact that we have strikers that just dont score enough goals. 4-4-2 isnt working but we have to work with what we have, so i would like to see us try a 4-3-1-2 system with:- LB Enrique CB Agger CB Skirtle RB Kelly LM Maxi CM Gerrard RM Johnson AM Bellamy CF Suarez CF Kuyt. Opinions ?
this article is simply the right dose to the disease infecting lfc. Lfc has a very good defence and strike force. However look at the midfield ! This area lacks speed, pace, width, flair, creativity and positional sense.
U cannot score goals with the type of players who cant make assists. Have u noticed that u cannot pick out any contribution by henderson to the team in all the minutes that KD leaves him on the field ! When he gets the ball he doesnt know what next. So are the rest of midis.
U look at KD and u wonder where the goals will come from. KD’s tactics and buys cannot take us to the top.
To all lfc fans with love from Uganda YNWA
Hate to say it but i feel kenny just hasnt got what we need ! he has spent alot of money on rubbish (commoli might say who he wants but kenny has final say) Now i am not sayin i want rafa back (THE MAN GOT RID OF ALONSO TO GET BARRY FFS !!!!! ) but just imagine what hiddink or even o’neil would of done with the 100 million spent ? if the owners trust kk with anymore money it will be wasted ! ……… kenny you are and always will be a god at anfield and are always welcome back ( u will be greeted like a hero) but its time u left before your pushed.
KD got those points when there was no pressure on the job, we are watching him implode due to the pressure, this season has been diabolical, substitutions, team selections and tactics are showing the signs of a man under severe pressure, and sadly he does'nt know what to do.
Please dont even think about bringing back Mr Benitez. Personally responsible for us losing, Alonso, Crouch, Keane and Benayoun, we dont need a manager who treats his players like robots, remember things started to go bad for Benitez when he forced Paco out of the club.
Pls.we liverpool fans in Nigeria can’t wait until the and of the season for Daglish to be fired, pls, let mr Mr Henry do something now b4 something does Him.Give us Rafa Benitez back,we love him dearly.
NO RAFA TO LIVERPOOL. Why u all going back to former managers..? Pls go for new.. Bring Frank Rijkaard to liverpool… We need attacking mind of manager like Rijkaard.

Has anyone noticed that apart from the tottenham, bolton and sunderland loses we have actually played some very effective and stylish football.
Just imagine if we had van persie right now……we will have to wait for summer to buy a goalscorer after we get rid of carroll!!
was you slaging carroll off when he bang 2 in the city net last season remember it was like this against bolton then we beat both manc teams ,we have lost to fergie, wenger and o'neil 3 top managers
Liverpool is unlucky. They held a game possession but struggled to get the killer ball. Its a quite shame for a big team with a lot of young lads. KD should have gone. Bring in more tactical minded like Rafa.
Mr Dalglish has been unbelieveable for Liverpool in the past but we need to leave it there. It would be a hugely emotional decision to make but his managerial rein must come to an end. Enough time and enough money has been given and his methods are clearly not working.
Liverpool need to remind themselves that they are a big club, a world recognised and loved brand, and that anything less than a winning mentality has no place at the club. This all comes from the DNA of the players themselves and when you look at the team sheet there are simply not enough winners and this is down to the manager.
Mr Dalglish must go!
Lets be honest , we were more than lucky to beat Cardiff , Kenny Miller should have finished it off but blazed over with 2 mins to go. And is the Carling Cup the measure of success at Anfield these days , I know I would swap it for a top 4 finish any day.
The football on show is dull , the signings are , well being conservative way over priced…£17,000,000 for Henderson?????? Thats seventeen million pounds???? Adam now a small fish in a big pond , not up to standard. Downing , 1 good game every 5. Carroll ….again £35 million pounds , in his defense he doesnt start that often , he had a couple of good games on the bounce and was then dropped (thats what you get for playing well!!!)
Enrique , very good at first but has faded and become prone to mistakes.
There has been an element of bad luck along the way with the side hitting the woodwork on countless occasions , why is this???? Shooting practice??
The league positiion for the amount of money spent is NOT good enough and there needs to be a stark improvment before the end of the season . Do you think the board will tolerate the spend for not finishing in the top 6???
Trouble is who would take these over priced players on now if the Reds wanted to sell and how much of a loss would be made??? Would anybody pay anywhere near the £17m paid for Henderson???? doubt it , come to think of it would anybody pay anywhere near the amount we paid for Adam , Downing , Carroll???? Not a chance.
The players also have to take the blame for thier part in this slump and start to justify thier over inflated wage packet and help take some pressure of Kenny.
Kenny put faith in these players and gave them the oppertunity to respresent a great club , something most of us could only dream of. Time to stand up and be counted !!!!!
IF KK wins the FA Cup, should we sack him, having won 2 out of the 3 competitions we are in?? or would we say yes we have had a good cup run and have been unlucky in the league??
Bring Rafa back!!
If Rafa had the backing of this current board we will win the league within 2yrs. Those 2 clowns Hicks&Gillet are the ones what cost us.
Rafa can deal with player power, he expects what he’s prepared give… Everything! He didn’t want Alonso to leave. The situation.. Alonso wanting to be present at the birth of his daughter/ son the gaffer wanted him to be with the team for a Champions Lge game (remember them). They fell out with one loser which is how it should be. Monster Masch would still be a Pool player as would Nando if Rafa was still there. Arberloa?? Not sure. He’s often overlooked when there’s talk of great players who left. They left cos the saw through nice guy ‘Roy’
So, if Kenny Dalglish loves this club as he claims I am wondering how he can’t observe and perceive this reality and for the sake of the team to step down as LFC’s manager? (Costasy)
Can’t step down until the end of the season, otherwise we may have a disaster on our hands.
Ok LFC won’t get fourth but they should be safely mid-table avoiding relegation. After that I would expect Kenny to step down barring miracle and LFC suddenly shooting up the table
And yes I would like to see Rafa back but only at the end of the season so he can plan out next season properly
It’s Sat 24th March, Liverpool’s just lost at home to relegation threatened Wigan at home. That is now 5 defeats in the last 6 PL games for LFC.
Surely now, even the diehard King Kenny subjects of his royal court, can see, without the depth, quality, and modern tactical know-how, this deep into the season, there is no hope of progress for the Reds.
Dalglish will always, always be a legend at Liverpool FC, his legacy is already signed, sealed, and delivered. But he is, as sure as eggs is eggs, completely and utterly out of his depth, for ever mounting a serious challenge for the title, in the coming seasons. In fact, we more teams fighting for the top 4 spots, it’s highly dubious that he can even achieve reaching the Champs League!
No, there is only one intelligent choice here, we need a new manager for next season.
And all of you touting a case for the Spanish waiter again, do me a favour! He is a complete has-been now…fell hard from grace at Liverpool, then proved to be a complete failure at Inter, and to cap it all, he hasn’t even managed a team this decade so far!
If hiring KK again was a backward step, then hiring RB again, would be a move back into medieval times!
