The Summer transfer talk has already started, Leicester City have been linked with a number of players, aswell as rumours that some players could well be moving on, this is my first weekly transfer rumour update involving the “Foxes”.
Miguel Vitor – Vitor became Paulo Sousa’s first summer signing last week, as he has decided to join the “Foxes” on loan for the 2010/2011 campaign. The 21 year old has featured 34 times for the Benfica first team, including a game in the Uefa Champions League against Copenhagen. The Portuguese youngster has been capped at Under 21 level aswell as captaining his parent club at youth level. This could well turn out be a sensational signing on Leicester’s behalf.
Andrea Orlandi – Orlandi has been strongly linked with a move to the Walkers Stadium, it has been reported that Sousa is keen to snap up the services of the former Barcelona player. Orlandi who played under Sousa at Swansea last season, has recently turned down a contract extension from the Welsh side, meaning that he is free to talk to other clubs. Paulo could well make Orlandi his second signing of the summer.
Amdy Faye – The experienced holding midfielder was rumoured to be on the “Foxes” radar early last week, the former Stoke player was released by the midlands club at the end of last season following an injury struck season. On the other hand Faye is fully fit and is raring to find a new club, Leicester City have shown interest in the 33 year old according to Sky Sports.
Hugo Colace – Paulo Sousa is very keen to snap up the services of Hugo Colace, Colace nearly joined Swansea City while Sousa was in charge at the club, now it is strongly reported as Sousa has now joined Leicester he is likely to show more interest in the Barnsley player of the year. Colace who scored the winning goal against the “Foxes” at Oakwell last season is currently out of contract.
Nolberto Solano – Solano is close to agreeing a deal with Hull City, the former Newcastle veteran was reported to have signed a one year contract extension with the “Foxes” however those reports were quashed as the Leicester Mercury stated that Solano has been released by the club. Nolberto who featured mostly at right-back last season, is set to join up with former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson.
DJ Campbell – Campbell has struggled to make an impact at Leicester City, and it was rumoured that Campbell was on his way to Blackpool. The 28 year old who fired Blackpool into the play-off final last season, was in talks with the newly promoted Premiership side over a permanent deal, however it was reported that the deal broke down. On the other hand recent reports have linked Campbell with a move to Ipswich Town, even though new Leicester manager Paulo Sousa has said he wants to give all his players a chance, the unsettled Campbell could still move clubs.
