Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson has already started to draw up a shortlist of players, who he believes can get Leicester City promoted back to the Premier League next season. With new owners at the helm the former England coach will have more than £10 million to spend on players over the summer, and many players have already been linked with a move to the Walkers Stadium.
Reports in the Sun newspaper yesterday stated that Leicester City are prepared to sign Emile Heskey from Aston Villa, aswell as Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given who was also linked in early January. Heskey has been touted for a Leicester City comeback for some time now but nothing has materialized; however with the Foxes prepared to pay the wages for players such as Heskey and Given it wouldn’t be a shock to see the pair turn up in the famous blue colours for season 2011/2012.
Meanwhile Coventry pair of Kieren Westwood and Marlon King have been heavily linked over the past week, Westwood is noted by some to be the best goalkeeper in the Npower Championship as he talents haven’t gone a miss, as many Premiership clubs are also keen on the Republic of Ireland international. Marlon King was snapped up by Coventry after he was released from prison last year, King has received his critics of late but ever since he joined the Sky Blues he has been banging in the goals. Since his return to football King has scored an impressive 12 league goals, his talents should never be underestimated but would the fans want to see the former Watford striker at the Walkers Stadium next season?
The Foxes are set for a busy summer of transfer activity, many players are rumoured to be joining the club while the likes of Steve Howard are already being linked with an exit from Leicester to pastures new.
Who would you like to see at Leicester City next season, does Westwood take your fancy or would you like to see Emile Heskey return. I am pretty sure that this will be the busiest summer since Martin Allen’s spending spree in the year 2007, fingers crossed that Sven Goran Eriksson attracts better players than Martin “Mad dog” Allen.
