What a two months!

31 December 2011 by

At the beginning of November Celtic were fifteen points behind fierce rivals Rangers and now as the Bhoys enter the New year they find themselves on top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. It is Celtic’s nine wins in a row that have brought them to the top of the table.  Celtic won the second Old Firm of the season after a Joe Ledley headed goal in the second half. Neil Lennon praised his team after the game and said he was “so proud of them”, he also praised the fans saying that they “pushed the team on to victory”. It was a great night for the Celtic fans and the atmosphere in Celtic Park was buzzing. There is a real belief in the team that they can really kick on and open a gap between themselves and Rangers. Beram Kayal went off the pitch on a stretcher in the second half and it was today confirmed that he will be out for at least one month following two scans on his ankle. Gary Hooper was unable to keep his brilliant Old Firm scoring record going after he came off in the eighty fifth minute for Irishman Anthony Stokes. James Forrest played very well and the young Scot nearly got on the score sheet only a great save from Alan McGregor denied him, but his shot resulted in the corner that Joe Ledley’s headed goal came from.

The only dissapointing result from the last two months was the 1-1 draw away to Udinese which knocked Celtic out of the Europa League but despite getting knocked out I believe we did very well to get the points that we did and we were also very unlucky as the teams in our group were actually of a Champions League standard.

Celtic have also confirmed the signing of Swedish defender Mikael Lustig. Celtic’s assistant manager Johan Mjallby said that they “had found another Super Swede” in the new defender. Lustig has passed the medical and will sign officially on the first of January. Celtic will be looking to get their tenth win in a row when they face Dunfermline away from home on Tuesday. Come on the Hoops!
