Coach Huh Jung-moo has announced his first squad for this summer’s World Cup, which includes just two english based players, Park Ji-Sung and Lee Chung-Yong. Chung-Yong plays on the wing for Bolton Wanderers whilst Ji-Sung plays for Manchester United. Monaco’s Park Chu-Young, is the only other European based player in the squad.
Seol Ki-Hyeon out of World Cup due to injury
Missing out is ex-Fulham and Reading striker Seol Ki-Hyeon, who is still recovering from knee surgery. South Korea will play Ecuador on 16 May as a World Cup warm-up and the squad needs to be down to twenty-three by June 1st, FIFA’s pre-tournament deadline.
