Mother Nature takes it’s toll – Premier League Fixture Congestion

The Premier League is looking at major fixture congestion problems in the coming weeks.

The snowy conditions in England meant that seven matches were postponed this weekend and more snow is forecast for the upcoming week.

I do agree with some of the matches being postponed due to severe conditions, but the Manchester United v. Chelsea match being called off really surprised me. Stamford Bridge is in the centre of London, and probably has the lowest proportion of the crowd driving to the ground.  The TV audience would be boosted by everyone else sitting indoors, back on their sofa with a hot coffee/whiskey.

Premier League officials face a tough ask in the coming months to accommodate the unplayed fixtures into an already tight schedule.
