Reports of Saints are after Plymouth starlet Stephens

31 March 2011 by

It has been reported in several newspapers and media sites that 17 year old defender/midfielder Jack Stephens from Plymouth is close to a move to the South coast club.

Only last week the future star turnt down a move to top flight Fulham. After not being selected in the Plymouth reserve game against Torquay on Tuesday it is said that the youngster travelled to Southampton to discuss a possible move to St Marys which could see him join the club straight away, seeing he is only a apprentice and the recent financial issues at the West country side.

The deal is said to be in the region of £125,000 for Stephens who has played Six times (Three starts and Three from the bench) for the clubs first team. Even though Saints look in the driving seat for Stephens there are reports that Newcastle and Sunderland are also in the running for his signature.

Even though their is nothing set in stone if Stephens chose to move to Saints then it would be a amazing addition to the club and a possible future star.
