Royals prove too much for Lions

4 March 2012 by

After a shaky start Reading proved too much for the Lions, although the Lions were ahead 14 minutes in, with a good bit off ball work up to Harry Kane, his flick allowed Keogh to break the offside trap and with a neat finish through Federici’s legs gave Millwall the lead just under 15 minutes. Then in stoppage time a messy bit of defending gave Reading a corner with 1 minute left of the first half, this allowed Robson-Kanu to pounce on a mistake by the Lions keeper Forde with a top corner volley to end the half 1-1.

The second half took a while to get started neither team having the rub of the green, until a 76 minute goal by Le Fondre. The mix-up between Centre-back Shane Lowry and goalkeeper David Forde allow Jason Roberts to slip through and square the ball for an unmissable chance for Le Fondre to turn in for a 2-1 lead. Despite all of the pressure Millwall put on they just couldn’t break the Royals down and after a great start for the Lions, Reading were just too much for Millwall.
