Manager Mark Stimson is to decide shortly on whether or not to reward Irish striker Gary Mulligan with a new contract. Stimson has challenged Mulligan on his commitment to the Gills, and needs some convincing before offering the striker a new deal.
“We have an option on Gary and we’ll be speaking to him after the season has finished. That’s when that big word comes out again. Honesty.”
“What do you really want to do? How much do you want to play for this football club? We’ll see what his answer is.”
Another player whose future at the Gills is just as uncertain is that of Nigerian defender Efe Sodje – currently on loan at League Two side Bury – who has one more year left on his contract with the Gills. Stimson said: “Sodje is under contract. I’ve spoken to his representative about what we would like to do and hopefully we can get something done in the summer.”
