So, to the fourth in this series of 6 articles looking at the top 60 players in world football and probably the hardest list to select. In researching this list I realised our generation is blessed with a group of fantastic central midfielders and picking just 13 was very difficult. In fact, it proved too difficult and I had to choose 4 honourable mentions instead of just 3. I apologise and hope you will understand the difficulty. Thank you and please enjoy, comment, discuss, vent your outrage at my selections and read the …

The third in a series of six articles looking at the best 60 players in the world at the moment, we are now onto full-back having done golkeepers and centre-backs. Please enjoy, comment, discuss and read the next article; the top 10 central midfielders.
Full-backs
Honourable mentions:

Fabio Coentrao – A frustrating year for the 26 year old former Benfica man, playing second fiddle to Marcelo for club and having a disappointing World Cup for country. However, he is still an intelligent player, who is technically skilful and tactically versatile. Young enough to still …

For football fans, the weekend ended with the thrilling Liverpool and Manchester City six pointer…and captain Steven Gerrard’s tears.
Liverpool fans overcame all possible emotions within those enthralling 90 minutes. First the sadness of Hillsborough tragedy anniversary; the silence; the goosebumps at kickoff; the anticipation of how the game will flow; then the elation after Raheem Sterling sidestepped the City defence to open the score; the dream of title; the shrill and stretching of vocal cords after 2-0; the skepticism of holding on; the ‘pinching myself’ at half time; the edginess …

With Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund publicly stating that Polish forward Robert Lewandowski will not be allowed to follow Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich, it seemed the big Pole would be on the way to Manchester for free in the summer of 2014. However, it now appears that Spanish giants FC Barcelona are going to be joining David Moyes’ Manchester United in the hunt for the striker.
Barcelona boss Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino apparently wants a number 9 at the Camp Nou, and Barcelona are allegedly planning to make full use of Lewandowski’s …

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has claimed Borussia Dortmund are very close to securing a deal to bring St Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club  with the German club’s representative stating to Kicker, “We are very far in negotiations for Aubameyang.”
With the future of Robert Lewandowski still relatively unclear with Dortmund standing by their decision to straight up refuse to sell their Polish striker to their Bavarian rivals the move to bring Aubameyang to the club suggests a deal to sell Lewandowski may well be in the pipeline …

Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of signing Danish starlet Christian Eriksen from Ajax Amsterdam as an immediate replacement for Mario Gotze who departed for Bayern Munich earlier this month. The highly rated midfielder would essentially replace Gotze in the centre of midfield and would provide attacking support for Marco Reus.
Eriksen has dominated Dutch for several years at Ajax it is will be interesting to see if he could repeat his prolific form in a different country and at a better team. In the last season in the Eredivisie Eriksen …

It has been reported that Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Robert Lewandowski if the Red Devils stump up £25.5million for the forward. The Polish striker has been linked to several big name clubs including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City in the past few weeks.
Lewandowski is expected to move to the club of his choice within the coming days and he is definitely not moving to German powerhouses Bayern Munich according to Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke who said “Robert …

You have been with Dortmund for a few months now. How have you found your time with the club?
My first few months with the club have been very positive and I think also very successful. The most important thing to me is that I stayed healthy and fit so far, so I could play regularly. I try to help the team every day and during each match and I just really enjoy being with the team. It is fun to train and win together.
How special is it to play for …

Chelsea have already hit the £80million mark in terms of signings this year, and despite The Blues sitting pretty at the top of the table, owner Roman Abramovich may be tempted to open up his cheque book again in January.

John Terry has been the most talked about player this season due to various topics not corresponding much to football including his resignation from International football. However, it now seems apparent that The Blues feel it won’t be too long until the soon to be 32 year-old hangs up his boots …
