The race for promotion to the Premier League is shaping up to be a cracker! With just 11 games left there are still several teams fighting for automatic promotion, not to mention several vying for a play-off berth.
The top spot is held by Burnley however Middlesbrough, Hull and Brighton are all within touching distance. Derby find themselves safely in fifth place whilst Sheffield Wednesday, holding the final play-off spot, are under pressure from  Cardiff, Birmingham and Ipswich, snapping at the final play-off position. So who’s got what it takes to go up?
After beating Lancashire …

It is always the most anticipated sporting event in any sport, in any event, in any format: Derby Day.
On Sunday 17th March, Brighton and Hove Albion hosted Crystal Palace in derby where two sets of fans walking in with mixed emotions.
Firstly, Palace, the one I kill my rivals (and with a bad taste in my mouth), their fans come in with high hopes of yet another win. They have been mocking the Albion for years for our inept victories over them at the AMEX (Withdean or Goldstone for that matter). …

It’s not everyday you see a player in your team with such flair and charisma, performing week in week out for your team. In fact sometimes I have admired many of these flair-tastic players since I got into football.
There are so many to choose from: Juninho (Middlesborough); Zola (Chelsea); Cantona (United); Ronaldinho (Barcelona); Henry (Arsenal) and even, dare I say it, Zaha (Palace). Yes even the scum get a mention – with a bad taste in my mouth too I might add – but no one can not write off …

The toon army will be looking to beat Championship outfit Brighton and Hove Albion today in the FA Cup 3rd round clash at the AMEX.
After a dismal and frankly depressing winter period for all Newcastle fans, including myself, we will be hoping that the team can put in a good performance.
Since the start of December Newcastle only managed to pick up 6 points out of a possible 21 on offer. Along with a 2-0 defeat away at Bordeaux in the Europa League, luckily qualification was already secure!
This record cannot continue …

A heavily weakened Newcastle United side were eliminated from this year’s FA Cup competition by Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seagulls saw off the Premiership threat – who evidently missed latest departee, Demba Ba – with two excellently builty up goals by Andrea Orlandi and Will Hoskins.
The first-half had a slow tempo and build to the game but still provided us with enough entertainment in the comfort of our sofas (if at home) and padded seats (if at AMEX).
Firstly, David Lopez volleys a power house shot straight to the arms of …

It all seems promising for the Albion at the start of 2013 with a comfrotable 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Following a woeful December – losing to Palace 3-0 and gaining only 2 points – Gus Poyet’s men will want to push on with this winning momentum with a competitive edge with Newcastle United, in the FA Cup.
Pardew will be no stanger to this game either.
Since Poyet has been at the helm, he beat Pardew’s Southampton in their own back garden, in the Uruguayan’s first ever match as …

League One new boys Swindon Town secured their spot in the second round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night, after strolling past Brighton and Hove Albion at The County Ground.
Before the game, the cameras focused on Town manager Paolo Di Canio and Seagulls boss Gus Poyet, as two of the greatest players ever to grace The Premiership went head to head in a battle of tactics. However, despite all the flair that was on show from the fiery Italian and the opinionated man from Uruguay, it was reserved …

Palace recorded their second away victory of the season with a relieving win over arch rivals Brighton at the Amex Stadium tonight in a 3-1 win. Late goals from Wilfried Zaha, his first in the league for over a year, Darren Ambrose and ex-Seagull Glenn Murray cancelled out an early Craig Mackail-Smith effort.
The rivalry flames had been well and truly stoked pre-game with football fans and pundits bemused as to why a game of such insignificant geography was being treated in such manner. Rather than reel off the past, Brighton …

Despite being over 40 miles away from each other, the rivalry between Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace is one of the most intense in British football. The Seagulls and the Eagles will compete in front of a packed Amex Stadium on Tuesday evening. Both sides were …
