Chesterfield 5-2 Darlington
Youngster Scott Boden scored a double as Chesterfield continued their stunning home form with a 5-2 win over Darlington at a rainy Saltergate. The Spireites have only dropped 2 points at home in the league this season beating Notts County in the process.
The first chance fell to Chesterfield’s Wade Small who headed just wide from a Mark Allott free-kick. Immeditaly the visitors reply, a smart move was spoilt at the end by a poor Gary Smith shot which nearly went out of the ground.
Chesterfield took control of the …

Chesterfield fans entered Saltergate hoping that the Spireites could clinch their place in Sundays FA cup 2nd round draw, but it wasn’t to be.
4 minutes in Jack Lester headed home a Wade Small free-kick to give Chesterfiedl the perfect start. Almost immediatly Bournemouth attacked, and only 3 minutes after Chesterfield’s opener Bournemouth were level, Sammy Igoe shooting brilliantly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
After a period of end to end action Alan Connell scored to give the Cherries a 2-1 lead going into the break.
At half-time Wade …

Bournemouth stood top of League 2 before today’s clash with Chesterfield who have struggled on the road this season. So most of the Cherrie’s fans would probably of expected a comfortable win, but the Spireites were full of confidence after beating Huddersfield on penalties in the Johnstones Paint Trophy on Tuesday.
It was Bournemouth who started the best, within the 1st minute they were attacking and won a corner. Liam Feeney’s corner went to the head of veteran Steve Fletcher who only just headed over. After Ryan Garry was booked, Jamie Lowry took a …

Accrington Stanley’s financial troubles have somehow affected the team in a good way. A 5-3 win against Crewe followed up with a 2-2 draw at Port Vale have got the fans rolling, and if Stanley can pay their bills then maybe this run will continue. A huge contingent of Accrington fans made the trip to Saltergate hoping the good form would continue.
The away fans had nothing to cheer about in the 1st 10 minutes, as it was all Chesterfield. The Chesterfield pressure continued until the 27th minute when …

Chesterfield are a team struggling, before tonight they had only won 1 in 6 which isn’t promotion form. Grimsby are a team on the up, winning 3 of the last 4. So although Chesterfield are favourites, but no-one should write Grimsby off.
After an even first 10 minutes with neither side dominating Grimsby started to play as well as they had in their last few matches, shots from Adam Proudlock and Peter Bore only just missing the target. Then suddenly Chesterfield burst forward. Ian Breckin, Gregor Robertson and Jamie Lowry all played …

Chesterfield needed a win in this game, and they knew they had  a chance of getting 1, but Dagenham & Redbridge are never an easy side to beat. Paul Benson, Tony Roberts and Will Antwi, you may never of heard of them, but in League 2 they are 3 players who are dangerous every single game.
The spireites got off to the worst possible start, losing the ball a few seconds after kicking off, and from that Dagenham went upfield and Josh Scott hit the post. After a spell of end-to-end football Dagenham took …

When you have 2 teams which are almost exactly the same, it’s pretty hard to predict games, and today is one of those days. Dagenham have been excellent and consistent since returning to the league 3 season’s ago. Chesterfield on the other hand have also been excellent and consistent, only just missing out on the play-offs in both season’s since relegation from League One. Last season’s encouter saw The Dagger’s scoring in the last moment’s of the match to the anger of Spreite’s fans. This will be revenge for Chesterfield, …

It was a match with so much prospect, but turned out to be a disappointing one for spireites fans who made the train trip to the Don Valley Stadium, and one to forget.
Was it a penalty or a free-kick? Originally the referee awarded a free-kick to Chesterfield for Jamie Green’s fowl on Drew Talbot, but after consulting his lineman he changed his mind and gave a penalty to the dismay of the Rotherham crowd. Spireites top scorer this season Jamie Lowry fired home his 3rd penalty of the campaign to make …

John Sheridan’s spireites travel to Rotherham today with the hope of securing another win in League2. The blues are unbeaten since the 1st game of the season.
Chesterfield have been in fine form this season with 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat and loan signing Donal McDermott has been superb. The spireites were beaten 3-0 by Rotherham last season at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, but Sheridan won’t let that happen again. A 5-1 win over Burton Albion on tuesday has raised Chesterfield’s ambitions for the season and will …
