The race for promotion to the Premier League is shaping up to be a cracker! With just 11 games left there are still several teams fighting for automatic promotion, not to mention several vying for a play-off berth.
The top spot is held by Burnley however Middlesbrough, Hull and Brighton are all within touching distance. Derby find themselves safely in fifth place whilst Sheffield Wednesday, holding the final play-off spot, are under pressure from  Cardiff, Birmingham and Ipswich, snapping at the final play-off position. So who’s got what it takes to go up?

Paul Clement has taken the brave decision to strike out on his own as a manager, but can he make a successful transition from being an assistant to the main man?
The 43-year-old has been appointed as Derby County head coach to replace Steve McClaren and he could probably learn a thing or two from his predecessor about making the step up.
McClaren enjoyed a hugely successful spell as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and he is a coach who has been able to make an impact as a manager. …

For me, it’s a no-brainer, the Skybet Championship is THE most exciting league in England, and one of the most entertaining in the world. I often find myself racking my brain as to why this there is such little coverage of lower league football, it’s terribly frustrating. Obviously the top leagues and players are going to monopolise news and blogs such as this, nothing is ever going to change that but surely there’s room for greater consideration of the smaller minorities and fan bases up and down the country.
The Premiership …

Derby County’s U-turn this season has been nothing short of magical, from a mediocre first eight Championship games and a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to the trees 16 miles over the A52 that saw Nigel Clough shown the door, to an impressive third place finish.
Steve McClaren has transformed Derby into real promotion candidates, there is a buzz of expectation rather than nervousness around the iPro stadium, a feeling seldom experienced by fans since ‘that’ Premiership misadventure six seasons ago. Epitomised perfectly by the 4-4 draw at home to Ipswich; trailing 4-1 …

Three players each from Leicester City and Burnley have been recognised their performances this season in the Championship PFA Team of the Year.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, defender Wes Morgan and midfielder Danny Drinkwater have all been named in the PFA’s side of the season along with Burnley’s Kieran Trippier, Jason Shackell and Danny Ings.
Ross McCormack, Leeds United’s leading scorer, was joined by Derby County duo Craig Bryson and Will Hughes alongside Andy Reid of Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town’s Aaron Cresswell.

Life as a Peterborough United supporter is certainly not boring. Last season London Road was named the most entertaining ground in the England after witnessing an incredible 111 goals in the league and despite making a step up in the divisions this season entertainment value at The Posh has certainly not faded.
Posh were three games without a victory however after only just losing to Championship leaders Southampton 2-1 in the week despite having just ten men confidence at London Road was definitely high.
Media coverage on this game was buzzing after …

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME OF THE WEEK
Blackpool v Derby County – Wednesday 17th August 2011 – 8.00 pm kick-off
Last time the sides met
Derby County 0-2 Blackpool (26th December 2009)
Buxton (O.G) (38)
Ormerod (79)
The Lowdown
Two wins out of two. Perfect start. Blackpool and Derby County fans are suddenly full of optimism for the season ahead. At the start of the season, these two clubs were tipped for mediocrity, as they both ended the last campaign on a disappointing note. Blackpool were desperately unlucky to be relegated from the Barclay’s Premier League, going down to …

It’s time for another Npower Championship preview; this time around I turn my attentions to Leicester City’s East Midlands rivals Derby County. What can the Rams conjure up this season, can they secure another promotion challenge like they did in the Billy Davies era, or will another lowly mid-table finish happen again. Nigel Clough certainly has aspirations for Derby this season, can he keep to his word or will the campaign spiral out of control…

Nigel Clough has set out big aspirations for his Derby side this season, frustrated of …

Leicester City travel to Pride Park tomorrow in what will be there third local derby in the space of a month, the ‘Foxes’ have already eased past 3rd placed Nottingham Forest, also for Leicester they could only manage a draw in the m69 derby against Coventry. Tomorrow they will take on Derby County who currently occupy 18th place.
THE TEAMS
Leicester – Nigel Pearson’s side were undeservedly defeated on Wednesday night against Brian McDermott’s in-form Reading. However the loss didn’t really matter as fellow promotion rivals Swansea lost while Cardiff could only …

Another season and another defeat in the fifth round of the FA Cup for Derby as they were knocked out of the competition by Premier League side Birmingham City.
The Rams performed admirably against their higher placed opponents and after 55 minutes a cup shock looked to be on. It was Jay McEveley who opened the scoring, his second consecutive goal in the cup, the left back was given time and space on the edge of the Birmingham penalty area and fired a left foot shot goal wards. His effort bounced …
