East meets West this weekend in the next round of the FA Cup as Derby from the East Midlands meet Birmingham from the West Midlands at Pride Park.
Derby go into this game on an excellent run of form, victories over Forest and Newcastle at pride park and an excellent performance at Sheffield United have seen a rise in confidence and everyone will be looking forward to testing themselves against Premier League side Birmingham City. The Rams beat fellow Championship side Doncaster Rovers in the last round; a last minute strike …

What an amazing 11 days for Derby County! The league leaders Newcastle and bitter rivals Nottingham Forest have both been beaten at Pride Park, and the Rams came so close to beating Sheffield United at Bramhall Lane but had to settle for a point.
Derby will be hoping that they can continue to play the better teams in the league, as their performances against these sides have been excellent. Newcastle have only taken a point off Derby this season, West Brom couldn’t beat the Rams at home and Forest were defeated …

After getting his hands back on the Brian Clough trophy Derby County captain Robbie Savage was delighted with his teams’ performance in the East Midlands’ derby.
“It wasn’t just the result that was sweet, it was the way we absolutely dominated a team that hadn’t been beaten for 19 games,” he told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
“Our desire and commitment was second to none and we totally, totally outplayed them.
“We were by far the better team and I think anyone who was at the game will admit that. I’m not exaggerating, it …

Rob Hulse headed Derby County to victory against their arch-rivals Nottingham Forest at Pride Park. The striker scored the only goal of the game as the Rams earned themselves a 1-0 victory to get their hands back on the Brian Clough Trophy.
It was the inform Forest who went into the match as favourites and they had the first chance through Welsh striker Robert Earnshaw. The former Derby man swivelled onto a bouncing ball inside the area but his strike was headed clear by Rob Hulse.
After that it was Derby who …

East Midlands derbies between Derby and Nottingham Forest are always lively affairs, (who can forget Robbie Savage’s scarf waving, Nathan Tyson’s corner flag waving and the 22 man brawl from recent matches) and this weekend’s clash promises to be just as fiery.
Forest are flying high under Billy Davies and currently sit in second place three points behind leader Newcastle. Derby on the other hand are struggling under Nigel Clough and find themselves in 19th place five points above the relegation zone.
So for the first time in 17 years …

Robbie Savage’s reaction to the comments made on BBC Radio Derby has really caught the media’s attention but also has angered many Derby fans.
The Rams captain reacted angrily to the suggestion that some of the players were beginning to lose faith in some of Nigel Clough’s backroom staff, Savage insisted that he (and his teammates) had faith in the managerial staff and couldn’t believe their abilities were being questioned.
The whole saga is a tough one to call.
On one hand it would be no surprise if players were beginning to doubt …

As we near the end of 2009 it’s time to reflect on the year and the trials and tribulations that have affected Derby County.
The year started with lots of positivity, Nigel Clough took over as manager in early January and installed a fresh approach to all aspects of running the club.
On the pitch the Rams had two of their best cup runs in recent times; they had their best victory of the year very early on when they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the home leg of the Carling Cup …

Derby County’s impressive home form came down to earth with a bump as Doncaster Rovers stole all three points at Pride Park.
The Rams had been unbeaten at home since early November and were on a 4 game unbeaten streak before Rovers arrived at Pride Park, but the visitors deserved their victory as the home side struggled on a freezing December day.
The first half belonged to Rovers as their slick passing football opened up the Derby defence on a couple of occasions, and in the 21st minute they opened the scoring …

Birthday boy Chris Porter returned from nine months of injury hell to score Derby’s only goal at Vicarage Road and extend the Rams unbeaten record to 4 games.
It’s been a good fortnight for Derby as they finally begin to look like a team capable of challenging in this division. Victories over Reading and Watford have been linked together by draws against West Brom and Preston. Derby’s unbeaten run has seen then climb to 17th in the division and put seven points between them and the relegation zone.
This game was one …

Goals from Paul Dickov and a last second equaliser from DJ Campbell grabbed Derby a point in a game they thought had slipped out of their grasp.
The Rams went into the game on the back of five straight home wins but will be happy with the point against high-flying West Bromwich Albion. Nigel Clough’s men had been given clear instructions to press their opponents all over the pitch and give them as little time as possible to settle into their passing rhythm.
On the whole the tactic was successful with the …
