Three players each from Leicester City and Burnley have been recognised their performances this season in the Championship PFA Team of the Year.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, defender Wes Morgan and midfielder Danny Drinkwater have all been named in the PFA’s side of the season along with Burnley’s Kieran Trippier, Jason Shackell and Danny Ings.
Ross McCormack, Leeds United’s leading scorer, was joined by Derby County duo Craig Bryson and Will Hughes alongside Andy Reid of Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town’s Aaron Cresswell.

BBC sport this morning writes former club captain Stuart Pearce is set to become the new Nottingham Forest manager on July 1st after he initially turned down the offer from Chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi in the wake of Billy Davies’s dismissal as Forest boss.
Al-Hasawi would of wanted him in immediately of course but this seems a shrewd move by the former Coventry and Newcastle left back, if he comes in now with 7 games to go of the regular season it gives him limited time to impress any changes in tactics, Forest are seventh in the …

The new Championship season is almost here and its time to start thinking of everybody’s chances. Will we have one team run away with the title like Cardiff did last year or will it be a closer contest? Here I’ll have a look at who I think will make the top six and who I think will face the dreaded drop to League One. If you disagree, add your comments at the bottom!
Champions: Reading

The Royals were unlucky to be relegated last season – yes, they were 11 points away from …

After a completely bizarre 2012/13 season, I am, as always when unoccupied on a Saturday in the close season, yearning for the new season to start down at the City Ground. Forest went through 4 ‘permanent’ managers last season, if we include Mr Cotterill, and you could throw in an extra one for the games Rob Kelly took charge of. It was a season that never quite got going, every time it looked like we had turned a corner, thrashing Leeds on Boxing Day, Billy’s unbeaten run then struggle to …

The job of the manager at a football club is without doubt the most crucial position to be filled. The late and great Brian Clough was of the opinion that the appointment of a manger was so important that, should the board then relieve him of his duties, they should also step down from their position. Certainly the role of the manager has changed since Clough was in his pomp, as he stated himself,
“Once you’re a manager, everything lands on your doorstep. If a fan trips up on his way …

I’ve been watching Forest since the 1990/91 season, my first game being a 1-1 draw against a QPR side containing the, at that time, dangerous Roy Wegerle who scored that day but his team were denied the points by a Garry Crosby penalty. I got thinking the other day about all the dross I have seen since then, missing out on the European Cup victories and dominance of the late 70’s and the league cup runs and high placed finishes of the mid-eighties. Although I missed out on them, these …

Nottingham Forest & Leeds United came into this season with their fans thinking that the play offs, if not automatic promotion were a big chance this season on the back of their performances last season. Forest, who finished in 6th place last season got into the play offs, but lost their semi final 3-1 on aggregate to the eventual winners Swansea City. However, the Forest board thought that this was another failure, and released Billy Davies of his managerial duties after two and a half years in the job. After …

Welcome to yet another Npower Championship preview of Leicester City’s opponents 2011/2012; in this particular feature I turn my attentions to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest. With a fresh face at the helm in Steve McClaren, will the former England manager be able to guide the Tricky Trees to promotion, something that Billy Davies almost mustered on a number of occasions…

Leicester City’s neighbours Nottingham Forest will be under new management this season, former manager Billy Davies achieved two promotion finishes while at the City Ground; however after failing …

Rob Hulse headed Derby County to victory against their arch-rivals Nottingham Forest at Pride Park. The striker scored the only goal of the game as the Rams earned themselves a 1-0 victory to get their hands back on the Brian Clough Trophy.
It was the inform Forest who went into the match as favourites and they had the first chance through Welsh striker Robert Earnshaw. The former Derby man swivelled onto a bouncing ball inside the area but his strike was headed clear by Rob Hulse.
After that it was Derby who …

Promotion contenders? Looking likely! I said in my last post that if we managed to get 4 points from Sheffield United and Swansea (both away), I would really think that we could do it. The football played may have been gritty and far from pretty, but it was effective and we ground out two results. Prior to us, the only team that had beaten Swansea on their own patch were league leaders Newcastle. Elsewhere, even though Simon Cox grabbed a late, late equaliser against QPR, West Brom are now 3 …
