France beat Ten Man Brazil in Paris

France haven’t lost to Brazil since 1992, a game current manager Laurent Blanc played in for France, things didn’t change on Wednesday night, when thanks to a goal from Karim Benzema, France beat Brazil 1-0 in Paris. Benzema scored when he was left unmarked in the middle of the box, finding the target from a Jeremy Menez cross from the left.

Brazil’s Anderson Hernanes had been sent off before half time for violent conduct, having made a rash high foot challenge, with his leg straight out he connected with a Benzema’s shoulder, with his studs. It changed the game and being a friendly, you wonder if the spectacle would have been better served by issuing the player a warning, he isn’t a dirty player and it didn’t seem malicious. After half-time France had had a good spell of pressure thanks to their man advantage and this led to the winning goal.

France played in their new Nike football kit, wearing their new dark blue home shirts, with white shorts and red socks to round out the colours of the Tricolour. Brazil also wore a new kit, with a green bar across the middle of the traditional yellow shirt, worn with blue shorts and white socks.

France are currently ranked 19th in the world, but with this win and the recent one over England, you can see that their stock will be rising in the future.
