As confirmed via BBC Sport, 40 year old goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has joined Chelsea for 1 season after being released by London neighbours Fulham.
From Schwarzer’s point of view, it is a fantastic move to a top European club – if bench warming is all that he wants to do in the final years (or year) of his great career where he was the first foreign player to reach 500 English top flight appearances. I believe that he could still have a starting spot, albeit at a club not so mighty …

Chelsea have today signed 40-year-old Mark Schwarzer after his Fulham contract expired according to the Guardian.co.uk.
The Europa League champions made the move for the goalkeeper for a free transfer as he leaves the Cottagers after five years at the west London club, whom he joined from Middlesbrough in 2008. Schwarzer replaces the outgoing shot stopper Ross Turnball, who is departing on a free transfer.
The Australian international will provide back up for Petr Cech, as well bringing a wealth of experience to the team which will surely benefit the rest of …

Fulham have signed former Ajax and Roma keeper Maarten Stekelenburg for an undisclosed fee. The Holland international has joint on a four year contact.

Stekelenburg played a huge part in getting the Netherlands to South Africa’s 2010 World Cup Final where he kept a clean sheet in two games.
Fulham’s new no.1 spent eleven seasons at Dutch Champions Ajax before he moved to Serie A club Roma in 2011.
Cottagers boss Martin Jol has already managed Stekelenburg when he managed Ajax in the 2009-10 campaign.
The Dutch keeper spoke to the club website and had …

Lethargic, laboured are some of the words rightly attributed to the home side’s wretched performance against Fulham. Tuesday’s defeat was the third suffered at home by the Baggies in a season where they have done very well at the Hawthorns. Steve Clarke will obviously be disappointed at dropping points at home but more than that it will be the manner in which his team lost that will worry him the most.
Man of the match Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring on the 39th minute netting Fulham’s first and deserved goal. For …

Despite rescinding his wage demands, Nani could not avoid the axe as Sir Alex made five changes from the side that played were battered at Goodison Park. Rafael came back at right back as Valencia and Ashley Young flanked Cleverley and Anderson. Van Persie made his home debut for United alongside Kagawa but it was Wayne Rooney who made way.  Fulham retained their 5-star team last week only to see Riise missed out with Briggs his replacement as they hope to snatch a win at Old Trafford for the first …

Today was an action packed day of football in the Premier League. There was a five goal thriller, defeat for the newly promoted, new signings scored and there was a game postponed!
We start at Old Trafford where Fulham gave Man United a huge scare but ended up on the losing side as the Red Devils won 3-2. Fulham got off to a great start when Damien Duff slotted in from inside the box after 3 minutes to make it 1-0. But that lead was short lived when Robin Van Persie …

After an extended start to the season, which included over half a dozen Europa League qualifying games, Fulham have finally settled down under Martin Jol. It’s fair to say that the start of their season hardly set the world alight. Fatigue showed, from the huge amount of extra games they had played before any of the other teams had begun, and defeats to Newcastle and Wolves meant that many fans already began to feel they were in for a long and disappointing season.
It is the sign of a good squad …

After a two-week absence from Premier League duty; Tony Pulis’ side were replenished and ready for the challenge of Martin Jol’s Fulham.
Fulham arrived on the back of a seven-match unbeaten run, and Pulis would have warned his team to overlook Jol’s team at their mercy. Fresh from a largely in-active international break, the Potters entered yesterday’s game in ebullient fashion, whilst being mindful of complacency. When a team boasts two draws and a win from fixtures against Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, confidence levels would be through the roof.
So, with …

Today’s match at Craven Cottage between Fulham and Blackpool was an entertaining prospect for many football fans; and so it turned out to be. Fulham comfortably winning the contest with a 3-0 victory thanks to a double from Bobby Zamora and a second half Dickson Etuhu effort. After the match however, we are not left admiring Zamora’s excellent performance, or criticising Blackpool’s poor run of form, oh no! We are discussing the fact that a statue of the late Michael Jackson was unveiled outside Fulham’s stadium before the match.

Firstly, I …

Tottenham’s travelling fans will have been looking forward to their FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Fulham in what promised to be a very exciting and closely contested battle. What happened however showed the changing fortunes of two teams enduring a period of transition, with Fulham coming out 4-0 winners on the day. Could Spurs’ exit from the FA Cup be a blessing in disguise? Will Fulham see this as an excellent opportunity to get to get to Wembley, given the Fifth Round Draw?
Before focusing on Spurs’ frailties in this …
