Tonight Juventus will take on Barcelona, Europe’s hottest team this season, in the champions league final, having not tasted European cup success since 1996. Despite coming into the game off the back of a league cup double, and 4 successive serie A title wins, they enter the match as underdogs, thanks to the dynamic for of Barca’s dynamic fron three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. However with the correct shape discipline and organisaton, I have no doubt Italy’s top club can finish the night as treble winners. So with out further ado here is …

Played by some of the top teams in the world, the UAFA Champions League is seen as the ultimate prize in European club football, and this weekend, FC Barcelona are to clash with Juventus for the 2015 final in Berlin. Although the El Clasico showdown of Barcalona and Real Madrid that everyone was expecting won’t be going ahead, Juventus have shown their worth in the course of this tournament, which is making the outcome a tricky call for the bookies.
After a few wobbles in the early part of the tournament – …

The Champions League Semi Finals are upon us once again, Juventus play Real Madrid, while Barcelona play Bayern Munich in the other semi. Considered to be the weakest out of the four teams, we shall look at Juventus’ chances in this year’s competition. Can they get past Real, and if they do, can they win the whole thing?
The underdog tag out of the four semi finalists is what helps Juventus, they have the chance to take to the field with no pressure, allowing them to relax and express themselves. They …

So, to the fourth in this series of 6 articles looking at the top 60 players in world football and probably the hardest list to select. In researching this list I realised our generation is blessed with a group of fantastic central midfielders and picking just 13 was very difficult. In fact, it proved too difficult and I had to choose 4 honourable mentions instead of just 3. I apologise and hope you will understand the difficulty. Thank you and please enjoy, comment, discuss, vent your outrage at my selections and read the …

Leading on from the top 10 goalkeepers in the world; I now present you the top 10 Centre-backs in the world. Remember, this is partly judged on recent performances and partly on permanent class. Enjoy, comment and discuss and remember to look out for the remaining four articles in this series of 6, the next one being the top 10 full-backs.
Centre-backs
Honourable mentions:

Diego Godin – An old school centre-half who bought into the ‘Simeone way’ from the very beginning to great effect. His dogged style and aerial prowess means he is now crucial …

World Cup Squad:
Goalkeepers: Jefferson, Julio Cesar, Victor
Defenders: Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Marcelo, Dante, Maxwell, Maicon, Henrique
Midfielders: Fernandinho, Ramires, Hernanes, Oscar, Willian, Luiz Gustavo, Paulinho, Bernard
Forwards: Fred, Neymar, Hulk, Jo
Brazil have picked a very strong team on paper and it would be hard to argue that they are heavy favourites to lift the World Cup on their own soil. The obvious choice for goalkeeper is Julio Cesar, who although plays in the MLS for Toronto, is hugely experienced, playing for Inter Milan for a number of years before moving to QPR in England. …

Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon
Dino Zoff the oldest winner ever of the World Cup, at the age of 40 years, 4 months and 13 days will be remembered as the greatest gloves to many to have set foot on the Italian footballing culture.
But ask any Bianconeri, and the word from heart would say “Gigi”. If stats are put to talk, Buffon proves no lesser credibility than his senior countryman Dino Zoff. Even Zoff’s exemplary record for the longest playing time without allowing any goal in international tournaments (1142 minutes) is matched with …

In the opening few minutes, both sides had a few chances each but arguably Juventus had the better of the initial exchanges.
Lazio were sitting back and hitting the champions on the break, because they were starved of possession. It was the sort of start we were expecting, the Eagles couldn’t get a grip on the game hence they were penned into their own half.
It was no surprise that it was the home side who took the lead through Vidal. It was a great team goal that started from the back, …

Prior to this transfer window, the Italian league looked destined to repeat the goings-on of the previous season. However, this transfer window has changed everything.
Juventus have further strengthened their grip on the Italian league with the high profile signing of Carlos Tevez and the free transfer signing of Fernando Llorente. Although Fernando Llorente has been basically off form and on the bench with Athletic Bilbao for the last season, Juventus do have enough strikers in their squad to overcome what could be a rough few months to allow the prolific …

Fernando Llorente, Carlos Tevez and recently Angelo Ogbonna have signed for Old Lady of Turin (Bleacher Report). Ogbonna was the most-sought defender in Serie A and Manager Antonio Conte has expressed his delight on new arrival. Juventus were already good enough but Ogbonna’s inclusion would allow Conte to rotate his three-man defense. Veteran Chiellini and Barzagli are immaculate but Bonucci would compete with Ogbonna to earn a place in defense. Tricky Asamoah and experienced Lichtsteiner will retain their wing back positions. At some point Caceres and Peluso could play their …
