Ever since the Bosman ruling came into effect in 1995 – giving footballers the right to leave clubs for free at the end of their contracts – players have had the power when it comes to contract negotiations.
Some clubs have learnt to deal with the situation by opening negotiations early with players they want to keep. Leeds United is not one of those clubs.
In May, star striker Jermaine Beckford departed Elland Road for Premier League Everton after running down his contract. Leeds left it until Beckford entered the …

Blackstock 9’                 Sam 36’
Attendance – 24, 986
Leeds United fought back impressively to share the spoils with Nottingham Forest in a feisty battle at the City Ground. Forest stormed out of the blocks, taking a deserved early lead through Dexter Blackstock, courtesy of a well placed header. Simon Grayson tinkered with his formation and Leeds responded well, Bradley Johnson’s perfect cross from the left was met by a late run from Lloyd Sam, whose glancing header was expertly directed into the bottom corner.
Despite the early Forest dominance, …

Breakthrough Player 2010/11
There’s a good chance the name ‘Robert Snodgrass’ triggers a memory for a large proportion of English football fans, any who witnessed Leeds’ fine run in the FA Cup last season or are fans of League One teams will have seen the promising young Scot in action.
However, after two seasons excelling in the third tier of English football Snodgrass’ breakthrough season may yet still lie ahead. His performances, for the large part have been overlooked, as frequently the headlines at Leeds have been dominated by the free-scoring Jermaine …

At the turn of 2010, a title winning season looked a near on certainty for Simon Grayson’s men as they topped the table by nine points. A tremendous victory over rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup highlighted …

With less than a week left before Leeds United kick off their Championship campaign at home to Derby County in the 5.15pm game on Saturday, Simon grayson has admitted he would like to bring in a few more new players.

With Robert Snodgrass and Billy Paynter both injured and looking to miss the first few games of the season along with midfielder Max Gradel and striker Davide Somma suspended for the first four and three games respectively, grayson wants some cover.
Now, a close source to me told me before the Wolves game on …

Leeds yesterday (22/07/09) signed Australian international centre back Patrick Kisnorbo. According to Leedsunited.com Kisnorbo joined United in the face of interest from a host of Championship clubs, including Derby County and Crystal Palace, after former club Leicester City decided not to renew his contract.
Kisnorbo, 28, has signed on a 2-year deal at Elland Road and has previously stated his desire and hunger to prove that Leicester were wrong in releasing him and play in the Championship again.
An experienced campaigner all round; Kisnorbo has been capped 14 times by his national …

After losing 2-1 in a must-win game, Gillingham will be playing their football in League Two next season. The Gills needed to win, and hope that relegation rivals Cheltenham and Bournemouth lost, to survive in League One. But it wasn’t to be as the Gills lost 2-1, in a game that in the end the result wouldn’t of mattered for the Gills, as Cheltenham Town were victorious over promotion hope-fuls Doncaster Rovers, winning 2-1 to ensure their League One status.
The game started brightly for the Gills, and in the 20th …

A 0-0 draw at home to Brighton yesterday was simply not good enough, we had by far the most posession and lost count of the shots on goal so why 0-0.
Seems to be apart from Beckford we have no prolific goalscorers in the team and even he doesnt score most games, the backbone of the team seem to be doing well and keeping clean sheets and positive defending but its no good if we arent scoring goals, something needs to be done quick before its to late and were doomed …
