Palmeiras 1×0 Guarani – reserves win again

Last saturday Palmeiras beat Guarani 1-0 and maintained the lead of the Campeonato Paulista:

This was the fourth time that Palmeiras played with bench players to let the first 11 resto to the Libertadores game, and the reserves won for the fourth time. With Corinthians draw against Marilia, Palmeiras is 3 points ahead of Corinthians with one game less (which is against Noroeste, the last team in the table). A win against the archi-rival (Corinthians) next summer would be a great step to the finals, since Palmeiras is 8 points ahead Santos, the 4th in the table.

This was the first time I went to watch the game at the stadium this year, and, even with reserves, you can see which player is giving all he got, which isn’t. Lenny is one that is in great shape: runned the entire game, always trying to be an option, even when the ball was with the goalkeeper.

Marquinhos played a terrible match, again. He missed pre-season due a hernia operation and in in no form at all; missed almost every pass in the game and a penalty, in the end of first half. I hope he finds his better form fast, because he played an excellent national championship last year, and is only 19.

In other hand Deyvid, subbed-in in his place, played a great match. He entered in the game against Ponte Preta and suffered the penalty which gave Palmeiras the win, and last saturday he scored the only goal of the game, against his former team.

Last game was the first game of Ortigoza for Palmeiras. The paraguayan striker played ok: not to good, but made the assistence to Deyvid’s goal. I don’t think he is a great player, but I hope he can at least no lose to many goals when he plays.

Palmieras’ next game is this tuesday, against Colo-Colo, for the Libertadores da América; after losing the first game against LDU, Palmeiras has to win the home match to have an easiest way to the playoffs.
