It has arrived. The Premier League season is well and truly upon us. After a dramatic finale to last year’s title race, this year, even the most sceptical better wouldn’t call odds upon the title being decided on a goal in stoppage time. However, towards the end of last season, the title was, very much, a two horse race between the two Manchester clubs. On the other hand, this season has started off in a very open fashion, and although it’s still early days, possible title contenders are emerging.

The first team on …

Scotland’s double header against Serbia and Macedonia will go a long way to deciding our qualification fate, even at such an early stage.
As both games are at home 6 points are a necessity especially if we view Serbia as a runner-up contender. Previous campaigns have been lost in Hampden rather than on our travels. Plainly speaking if we lose at home then there is no chance of Pina Colada’s on the Copacabana.
Much of the pre-match and campaign talk has been unusually, optimistic. Scotland possesses strength in the forward areas which …

With the first three weeks of the season complete and the transfer window now shut here’s a few pointers to the season ahead

Southampton might be the Blackpool of 2010/11 –
In recent Premier League seasons promoted teams such as Blackpool, West Brom and Swansea have attempted to stay up with an open style of play that has made them extremely entertaining to watch. However this does not always work out in these teams avoiding the drop. Blackpool were cruelly relegated a few years back after playing some attractive football. This season Southampton …

Finishing fourth with a ticket to Europa League will be glamorous to most of the clubs, but not for the Tottenham last season. Once flirted with the title, the hope diminished with Harry Redknapp’s rumours. Now Harry is gone, so will Luka Modric soon. Daniel Levy put his bet on Andre Villas-Boas to reproduce his success at Porto with this decent group of players and deliver Champions League football back to White Hart Lane.
New Signing: Daniel Levy neutralised the instability brought by Modric’s transfer rumours by stealing Sigurdsson from Liverpool’s hand. …

Warrior Football marks its debut season in the English Premier League by giving fans of all teams a chance to battle it out against each other as the brand’s new online prediction game, Face Off, goes live.
Face Off challenges gamers to predict their team’s performance on the pitch while going head-to-head with rival fans. Players who are on the ball will be in to win ‘money can’t buy’ prizes, as well as the chance to claim the title of ultimate Premier League fan.
In true footballer style, the overall Face Off …

It is still a mystery how they faltered and lost the title in the very last minute last season. The Red Devils are vowed to fight back. Have they armed up enough this offseason to pull themselves closer to Manchester City?

Notable new signing: Shinji Kagawa is not arriving at Old Trafford only for the Asian market. He won the Bundesliga with Dortmund in his first two years of European football. He can play various positions in midfield. He scored nearly every two games in Dortmund, and he is only 23. …

There were doubts when influential players Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, fan-favourites Jose Enrique and Andy Carroll left, while the club turned to cheap acquisitions of David Santon, Yohan Cabaye and Demba Ba . Yet the Tyneside club took the world by surprise as they qualified for Europa League by finishing 5th in the league, only two seasons after promotion. It will be a challenge for Alan Pardew to live up to the even higher expectation this season.
Notable new signing: While Debuchy and Andy Carroll may seem unrealistic now, Vurnon Anita …

So a new season is almost upon us. Players have had their vacations (Dutch ones seem to start at the beginning of the Euros), teams have finished their tours of various countries and hopefully injuries have healed and players are 100%.
Players are not the only people who need rest in an off-season.  I have not been frequently updated this blog as I have opted to enjoy my summer.  With a vacation and a move to a new place over with I am now ready for a new season and …

Wigan has been portrayed as a rugby town for quite some time now.  Though, I believe it only takes twenty minutes watching Martinez’s side to recognise that this side can give all the best teams in the league a run for their money.  Martinez has remained positive throughout the rocky times Wigan have endured, which has been acknowledged by the rest of the football community.  There may not be a Ronaldinho, a Messi, or a Ballon d’Or contender in the team, but there’s a very well balanced, well gelled team their which will be …

Andre Villas-Boas has taken the reins at White Hart Lane and has set about re-building Tottenham Hotspur for the forthcoming season, however can he do enough to keep Spurs in the Title chase?
Last season under Harry Redknapp, Tottenham had a superb start to the season and kept in close contact with the Manchester sides until the beginning of February. Coincidentally, this was the time that speculation intensified about Harry Redknapp getting the England job after Fabio Capello’s resignation. From that moment onwards Tottenham fell away from the title challenge and even lost …
