Week 9 in Serie A and this could be a chance for AS Roma to get their season up and running against Livorno, the only team without a win in Serie A this season having only given their fans two goals to cheer this season.
Not surprisingly, Livorno decided midweek that former player, Gennaro Ruotolo had overstayed his welcome at the Tuscan club, this time as head coach.  Former Udinese and Perugia boss Serse Cosmi is the man that Presdient Aldo Spinelli thinks has the ability to turn around Livorno’s early season problems.  This is …

According to latest reports, the Giallorossi have tightened their grip on Brazilian midfielder Gilberto Silva. Sportitalia has revealed that the Roman club have advanced a proposal to secure the services of the 31-year-old.
Roma’s offer, said to be in the range of €2.5m, is allegedly being taken into serious consideration by the Gunners. Silva’s deal at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire at the end of the 2008/2009 season.
Roma are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next term and have already acquired Norwegian left-back John Arne Riise from …

Italian newspaper from Rome ‘Il Romanista’ has reported that Man Utd are interested in signing 16-year old striker Davide Petrucci from Roma after the Italian youngster rejected a £1000/month contract from his current club. After the success of bringing up Giuseppe Rossi in the Man Utd academy, after signing him early from Parma, and currently bringing up Federico Macheda (after signing him from Lazio), Sir Alex Ferguson may be ready to add Petrucci to the Red Devils’ academy.
Petrucci is a regular player for the Italian Under 17 squad and is …

As expected, Manchester United defeated Italian Serie A club Roma at Old Trafford on Wednesday to register a new record in the Champions League. The record which was previously co-held by Juventus and Manchester United, is now solely in the hands of the Red Devils. They are the team that have won 11 straight home Champions league matches in a row. The line-ups for both clubs were the following:
Man Utd
1 Edwin van der Sar (GK)
6 Wes Brown
19 Gerard Pique’
5 Rio Ferdinand
27 Mikael Silvestre
4 Owen Hargreaves
13 Ji-Sung Park
16 Michael Carrick
8 Anderson

All Red Devils fans are eagerly awaiting tonight’s game against the Italians Roma. A repeat of last season’s 7-1 home victory is highly unlikely, but all odds are pointing to a Man Utd win at the Theatre of Dreams. Having won the first leg by 2 goals to nil, Roma must score twice (and keep a clean sheet!) at Old Trafford to take the game to extra time, or else score (an impossible?) three goals to win the game on aggregate.
Manchester United are boosted by the news that world-class …

Roma skipper Francesco Totti is a major doubt for the Champions League quarter-final match to be played on Tuesday against the Red Devils. Thumb-sucker Totti injured his thigh during the Serie A match against Cagliari on Saturday, which ended in a draw of 1-1. The Roma website said that the situation will be analysed in then next few days to have a clear view of Francesco’s condition. It seems that the Italian comedian will require some massage treatments from his Ilary Blasi to be able to play against the Red …

Today, Manchester United have sent a delegation, led by club secretary Ken Ramsden, to Roma to discuss and implement strict security measures ahead of the clubs’ Champions League quarter final clash. Last season’s match was stained by violent episodes, both inside and outside the stadium, which led to several injuries to Manchester United fans. Fans inside the stadium were hit harshly and haphazardly by Italian riot police who were clearly unable to control the situation calmly. Twelve Manchester United fans were wounded outside the Stadio Olimpico and taken to hospital.
