These are the upcoming playoffs in the different divisions, first up the Championship:
Wigan vs. QPR – May 9th 7.45 pm, DW Stadium (first leg), May 12th 7.45 pm, Loftus Road (second leg)
QPR finished one place higher than Wigan in fourth, but seven points better off. Both teams struggled for consistency and goals a bit, and there were few highlights in the 0-0 DW draw during the normal season. In the return fixture, Yossi Benayoun gave QPR a narrow victory, but 18-goal Charlie Austin is the man most likely to decide …

It was a match with so much prospect, but turned out to be a disappointing one for spireites fans who made the train trip to the Don Valley Stadium, and one to forget.
Was it a penalty or a free-kick? Originally the referee awarded a free-kick to Chesterfield for Jamie Green’s fowl on Drew Talbot, but after consulting his lineman he changed his mind and gave a penalty to the dismay of the Rotherham crowd. Spireites top scorer this season Jamie Lowry fired home his 3rd penalty of the campaign to make …

Chesterfield have been in fine form this season with 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat and loan signing Donal McDermott has been superb. The spireites were beaten 3-0 by Rotherham last season at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, but Sheridan won’t let that happen again. A 5-1 win over Burton Albion on tuesday has raised Chesterfield’s ambitions for the season and will …

Rotherham United have been outstanding this season, and had it not been for their 17-point deduction, at the moment they would be sitting comfortably in the League Two play-offs. They have bounced back from their points deduction and have gotten out of the relegation zone, ahead of Grimsby Town who didn’t have a points deduction.
Rotherham also have an impressive away record, having won three, drawn three, and lost just once in their seven away games this season.
Gillingham have made the KRBS Priestfield Stadium something of a fortress, with five wins, …

Stoke last night eased to a comfortable 2-0 win over League Two Rotherham in the Carling Cup, their first win by more than a single goal in 30 attempts, and in doing sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in 30 years. A Glenn Whelan goal followed by Danny Pugh’s first for the club were enough for Tony Pulis’ side, which featured wholesale changes from the Premier League draw at Wigan on Saturday.
Ryan Shawcross and Seyi Olofinjana were the only players …

Stoke meet League Two Rotherham United tonight in the Carling Cup with the teams over seventy places apart in the Football League. however, it isn’t too long ago that many a Stoke fan would have gladly swapped fortunes with those of the South Yorkshire club. Seven years ago to be precise, Rotherham were clawing their way to survival in what’s now the Championship while the Potters were playing out another promotion push destined to end in failure a division below.
The following season Stoke were to win promotion though, …
