WOLVES AND BRENTFORD DOMINATE THE PFA LEAGUE ONE TEAM OF THE YEAR!
League One Champions Wolves and Runners Up Brentford dominated the PFA League One Team of the Year at the annual PFA Awards tonight with seven of the team coming from the already promoted clubs.
Wolves led the way with five players selected as Carl Ikeme, Sam Ricketts, Danny Batth, Bakary Sako and Kevin McDonald whilst Brentford’s former Everton duo Adam Forshaw and Jake Bidwell were also named.
Peterborough United’s top goalscorer Britt Assombalonga led the strike force along with Coventry City’s …

Love it or hate it, deadline day is enthralling because transfers matter. The stories of clubs the world over have been shaped by fateful, occasionally fantastic, deals, be they big-money additions or bargain buys.
But although the pursuit of players can be satisfying, it occasionally leaves supporters lamenting what might have been. After all, there are plenty of star footballers whose careers could have taken very different turns, and no shortage of clubs bemoaning the fact they did not.
Hopes dashed by wages and weight
A prime example is Sheffield United, where – …

Sheffield United has once again sacked their manager. David Weir the latest to depart after only one league win in 10 games. Chris Morgan has been put in charge for the game at Coventry on Sunday. Weir was only in charge for 13 games overall including the cups and it seems 13 was his unlucky number.
It’s sad to see him go as you could see he was a well-respected man trying to do the right thing on and off the pitch. He was clearly trying to implement a new passing …

As I heard the rumours that Danny Wilson was leaving Sheffield United as I drove to work it didn’t shock as much as I thought it would. After all this season has seen some bizarre changes of manager with some clubs having as manger as 4 different bosses. My only surprise was that this is something Sheffield United rarely does. They removed Kevin Blackwell 2 games into the season but usually the removing of a manager at Bramall Lane comes when the fans have protested with their shoes off in …

“We’re going to Wembley!” was the chants by the home supporters after the second penalty shootout won this season. Think we should take one game at a time but we have a really good chance which I hope we can take!
On another cold December night Mark Robins made 3 changes from the FA Cup win against Morecambe which gave us an amazing daw away to Spurs! Let’s hope 1987 will come back to haunt them. The three changes were Joe Murphy, James Bailey and top goal scorer David McGoldrick in …

It has been another unbeaten month for Sheffield United. The current run stands at 14 league games with 1 game remaining in the month of October. Despite this good run things don’t seem to be as rosy as they should be at Bramall Lane. The financial concerns still exist it seems. United’s number 1 goalkeeper could be out for up to 3 months with a thigh strain but Danny Wilson has been unable to bring in either a back up for young George Long or an experienced number 1. They …

After finishing 3rd in league 1 last season and cruelly losing on penalties to Huddersfield Town last season Sheffield United will look to go one step further this coming season. The hurt of last seasons near miss has been all the more harder to bear with the club from S6 pinching 2nd place with 2 games to go last year. Danny Wilson knows that this year maybe even tougher with the loss of Matt Lowton to Aston Villa this summer a big blow.
Last seasons cruel end has been hard …

As Steve Simonsen blazed over his penalty kick to hand Huddersfield Town promotion to the Championship, the wave of disappointment that came over me was something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Its taken me a good few days to gather my thoughts. I pretty much flat out refused to speak to anyone about the game itself and I did my best to divert my conversations to other matters or telling them about my five hour journey to England’s national stadium.
Many fans across the country will look upon …

Many football fans across the country claim that the club they support is hard done by. They claim that they never get the rub of the green, the referee’s give them nothing or injury has robbed them of they’re top scorer. As a Sheffield United fan I think we have a case for something always wrong right when you don’t want it to. This season is no different after United’s top scorer was sentence to five years for rape. This happening in the heated promotion race with Sheffield Wednesday …

There has rarely been a player at Sheffield United this long that has polarised opinion as much as Nick Montgomery. Since making his debut on October 21st 2000, he has gone onto make 385 appearances for the Blades in all competitions.
He is a player that has been criticised on forums and phone in’s so many times over the years. He always seemed to be the scapegoat or target for boo boys when United lost a game. However he never gets much of a mention when United win, apart from the …
