The race for promotion to the Premier League is shaping up to be a cracker! With just 11 games left there are still several teams fighting for automatic promotion, not to mention several vying for a play-off berth.
The top spot is held by Burnley however Middlesbrough, Hull and Brighton are all within touching distance. Derby find themselves safely in fifth place whilst Sheffield Wednesday, holding the final play-off spot, are under pressure from  Cardiff, Birmingham and Ipswich, snapping at the final play-off position. So who’s got what it takes to go up?

After beating Lancashire …

There was a lot of negativity at Hillsborough over the summer with the sudden departure of Stuart Gray whom did a great job on a small-ish budget, but left with some dour performances as well the 1-2 defeat to Leeds at home springs to mind. Further added to the price of tickets as well, which were hiked up to pay for the new pitch, new scoreboard and extensive player recruitment. We also then hired an unheard manager to take us forward, and completely overhauled our playing style. Risky stuff!
What has …

The new Championship season is almost here and its time to start thinking of everybody’s chances. Will we have one team run away with the title like Cardiff did last year or will it be a closer contest? Here I’ll have a look at who I think will make the top six and who I think will face the dreaded drop to League One. If you disagree, add your comments at the bottom!
Champions: Reading

The Royals were unlucky to be relegated last season – yes, they were 11 points away from …

On the 5th May 2012, Sheffield Wednesday were promoted back to the Championship by finishing 2nd in League One and for the first time in years fans had a reason to be truly optimistic. In order to understand why, let me briefly explain the clubs recent history.
The last time the Owls were promoted to the Championship was in 2005 thanks to an extra time play-off victory against Hartlepool United. At the time we dared to dream that we were on the path back to the Premier League and that the good …

Posh recorded another emphatic victory as their phenomenal run under Darren Ferguson with a 4-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday.
Darren Ferguson named his fourth unchanged line-up in succession as Posh went in search of their fifth consecutive victory. Despite speculation about his future Craig Mackail-Smith remained in the Peterborough United starting XI. Meanwhile Gary Megson elected to set his struggling Sheffield Wednesday side up in a 4-5-1 formation. Gary Madine played as the lone striker whilst the mercurial Jermaine Johnson and Gary Teale started on either wing.
If ever it was crucial …

After the 3-0 derby win over Nottingham Forest, Leicester will now travel to Hillsborough in search of another three points. The odds are surely in Leicester’s favour as the ‘Foxes’ are currently unbeaten in eight league games, while opponents Sheffield Wednesday have failed to win a league game in three, under the guidance of Alan Irvine.
THE TEAMS
Leicester, are currently on a brilliant run of games, as the month of February turned out to be a pulsating month for Nigel Pearson’s side. Leicester were unbeaten throughout the whole of February, however Leicester …

After a dismal trip to Cardiff in midweek which resulted in a 6-1 drubbing Derby go into this game against the Owls with 10 first team players injured. To make matters worse three of the injured players are centre backs, which leaves Nigel Clough with not a lot to choose from.
Ideally after such a bad result Nigel Clough would have changed things about and freshened things up but apart from the inclusion of James Vaughan the starting line-up for this game is likely to be the same as those who …

Here we are again, Heading into that international break watching our beloved Stevie G and Wayne Rooney come across players with Names we cant even Pronounce, and I bet we will still be waiting until the final 15 minutes for that net to ripple!
Internationals Aside though, The real talking Point in this blog is Sheffield Wednesday and the Coca Cola Championship. We are 5 games in and we have picked up 8 points, 8th Place just behind our arch rivals United and with back-to-back victories we are only one point …

Sheffield Wednesday were involved in two record breaking games in the space of a week. Last Saturday the Owls completed their first double over arch-rivals Sheffield United in 95 years, whilst this week they suffered their first ever defeat to Doncaster Rovers.
Tudgay wonder-strike blunts Blades
Marcus Tudgay’s stunning 25-yard strike gave Sheffield Wednesday their first league double over arch-rivals Sheffield United in 95 years in an end-to-end steel-city derby.

The visitors were ahead after just 51 seconds when Tommy Spurr fired home a Michael Gray pull back from 12 yards in front …

Sheffield Wednesday striker Leon Clarke notched his second goal in as many appearances as a fortunate Wednesday side overcame a dominant Doncaster one to leave Rovers firmly planted to the bottom of the division – while Wednesday climbed up to 11th place ahead of Watford vs Swansea.
Wednesday kept the same side that got a well-earned point at Selhurst Park last weekend, while Doncaster made three changes to the side that were unlucky not to have taken 3 points against Swansea. Richie Wellens and John Spicer were brought in for James …
