Shrewsbury Town 0-1 Stoke City

The Potters today earned their third straight pre-season victory, edging out League Two side Shrewsbury at The New Meadow.

A weakened Stoke side, without the likes of player of the year Liam Lawrence, Ricardo Fuller and Leon Cort made a bright start with both Lewis Buxton and Mamady Sidibe going close early on. The scoreline stayed level until the 68th minute though, despite both sides creating chances. The breakthrough finally came with Richard Cresswell scoring for the third time in five games after latching onto a well weighted Danny Pugh through-ball. Cresswell and Andy Wilkinson both went close to extending the lead but the scoreline stayed at 1-0.

Next, City travel to Southampton on Tuesday and host Osasuna next Friday before the premier League kick-off at Bolton in two weeks time.
