Chelsea’s title challenge took a huge blow as their 9 men were defeated by a single goal against Aston Villa at Villa park. Fabian Delph scored with a delightful flick, midway through the second half, as Chelsea had their manage Jose Mourinho sent to the stands.

Chelsea came into this game …

Anybody with half an eye on this seasons Premier League will know its been terrifically exciting and probably the most open its ever been. The entire bottom half  are within 8 points of one another and everyone in the top half has something to play for whether it be an Europa League position, champions league spot or aiming for the title itself which means every game is vital. So what better time to step up and give some outstanding performances, and who amongst others have been doing that? ENGLAND PLAYERS.
We’re …

Paul Lambert had another happy return to Carrow Road with a tight 1-0 victory where they worked up until the 95th minute. It was a first clean sheet for the Midlands club after 26 league games with conceding at least one goal even though their full backs were constantly beaten in the first half.
For Chris Hughton it was a frustrating game where they could have got a point and were unlucky that the ball didn’t quite fall to the players they wanted it to. Their best player by far was …

Aston Villa were going into the game to bounce back after an unlucky defeat against Chelsea in midweek. They maybe should have got the win because Ivanovic, who got the winner, shouldn’t have stayed on the field. Terry also handled the ball so he should have conceded a penalty which could have resulted in a goal.
Whereas Liverpool were looking to continue their good start to the campaign, and build on their win against Stoke. Liverpool only scored one goal, but they did have more shots than any other team in …

We all miss Football when the season finishes and in odd ending years where there are no major tournaments we miss it even more. Last we had the Euro’s and then a big distraction in the fantastic Olympics that bought so much joy to the nation. This year we have had some more big British success in the break from football, the Lions winning down under, the Ashes, Justin Rose winning a major, Chris Froome winning the Tour de France and of course Andy Murray winning a certain tennis tournament …

It has recently emerged that Fulham have stepped ahead of Newcastle in the race for Darren Bent’s signature, with odds of him joining the Cottagers now at 4/6 ON (according to The Guardian). With the fee yet to be agreed between the two clubs, the rumours on the grapevine are that Aston Villa would be prepared to do business at a mere £6 million, representing a potential eye watering loss of £18 million for the Midlands club. This surely catapults Bent into potential bargain of the summer territory if the …

Although the transfer window still lingers on, the majority of players in the Premier League will remain where they are. Last season introduced some relatively unexpected stars, notably Michu, Christian Benteke, Chico Flores, et al. The coming season will too bring a flurry of players previously unknown or not rated that will rise to prominence. Here are five that I have tipped for success in the coming season:
1. Nicklas Helenius – Although 6ft5, the Dane isn’t typical for someone of his size. Instead of play the role of a long-ball target man, …

Entering July, the transfer market has once again dominated newspaper headlines. The never-ending rumours around Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez have started to bore the audience. Christian Benteke has chosen the right moment to steal the limelight by submitting a foreseeable transfer request, despite only arriving at Villa Park a year ago.
Benteke is a big fish eager to get out of the small pond. Although Paul Lambert demonstrated that he can get the best out of youngsters, the long-term project at Villa, which he hopes to …

Aston Villa have this afternoon been handed a sizeable blow in their pursuit of Japanese international forward Hiroshi Kiyotake who has recently returned from representing his country in Brazil’s Confederations Cup tournament. Paul Lambert continues to look for ways to improve the goalscoring element of his side following last season’s heroic escape from relegation in the hope his side will not be involved in such a scenario during the 2013-2014 campaign. Having already secured the signature of Danish forward Nicklas Helenius, Aston Villa have turned their attention to the quick …
