Every honour to the Bronze from France, they were the masters of the ball. Every honour and to Japanese triumph over Italy, but this is big. Maybe even the biggest. Klagenfurt will enter the history of Croatian football.
Germans soreness is big,but not as big as our happiness!
Croatia – Germany  2:1 (1:0)
After the starting German offensive, Bilić’s chosen ones managed to get in balance and after ten minutes took over the initiative. From that very first moment it was visible that on the field of
In the 16th minute Croats had the first corner kick, Å imunić excellent transfered to the other side, but nobody was following. The pressure of Vatreni has continued and payed off in 24th minute. The great combination of Rakitić and Pranjić, who crossed into German penalty box, was greatly followed by Srna, he came in front of Jansen and in fall shot the ball into the opponent’s goal. The stands went crazy!
In the 30th minute Croatia had a dead chance to extend the lead. Ćorluka throw in for Olić who put it down with a head for KranjÄar, but his shot went beyond the bar.
The Germans rendered three minutes later – Ballack made a cannon shot from a free kick, Pletikosa reject that shot, but there was a rush in our penalty box. Plete, with Niko KovaÄ’s help manage to resolve even that situation. In the 42nd minute Bilić’s team played an excellent action which was started by Ćorluka’s solo breakthrough. The ball than came to Olić, who passed it to KranjÄar but his half-volley shot was greatly saved by Jens Lehmann.
In the second half the German coach send Odonkor in, and took Jansen out. Germans again, just as like on the start of the match, started more resolutely, and the first threat was made by Ballack. After Pletikosa’s boxing, the midfielder of Chelsea tried to lob him from first, but luckily he wasn’t precise.
German pressure was harder every next moment, but Croatian defense was confident. And than, in the 62nd minute came rapid counter attack of Croatia, Rakitić took a shot, the ball knocked the post, but Olić was following and just nail it in the goal.
In the 72nd minute Bilić gave a well deserved rest to Olić, who earned the ovations of the stands, and sent in Mladen Petrić instead of him. A minute later, Germans had the most dangerous situation in the second half. Schweinsteiger took a shot, but Pletikosa knocked it with a leg to the corner.
Unfortunately, the German offensive resulted with reduction of the Croatian lead in the 79th minute. One badly knocked ball was received by Podolski who shot it from the volley into the goal. Three minutes later Jerko Leko shot towards the German goal, but Lehmann was sure.
In the endgame we counted minutes till the end, started the injury time in which Schweinsteiger lost the nerves, came after Leko and got a red card. In that rush yellowed Lehmann and Jerko Leko. Luka Modrić made a great tackle on Frings to win the ball and was already in one-on-one with a goalkeeper, but the referee signaled a foul and gave Luka a yellow card (totally undeserved, because there was not even foul). But, who cares now when Croatia celebrates after beating Germany, again. After Lyon, even Klagenfurt happened to them.
