Isco the No. 1 target for Manchester City

Malaga CF’s Isco the 20 year old sensation is the latest player to be linked with the English Champions, Manchester City. Txiki Begiristain the new director of football at Manchester City announced that Isco is their number one target in January. Isco has a 17 million buy out clause with Malaga and Manchester City look to match that this January. Malaga are trying to sign Isco on a new deal which would mean the deal would be worth 30 million pounds.

Isco has been prolific this season for Malaga CF as he has helped the club to the top of their UEFA Champions league group and third place in La Liga. Isco famously netted a brace in his Champions League debut against Russian giants Zenit Saint Petersburg. The match ended 3-0 to Malaga with Isco receiving the Man of the Match award. Isco can play as a centre forward or the centre attacking midfield position and has been dubbed in Spain as the new Cesc Fabregas.

Isco’s CV includes playing for Spain U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19, U-20, U-21 and U-23 youth levels. Isco has certainly got a prospective career ahead of him. If Roberto Mancini signed the midfielder he would add competition for the David Silva/ Samir Nasri role at the club. Isco standing in at 1.76m may show similarities to David Silva who also began his career at Valencia. The two players have great dribbling and agility making them ideal for Manchester City’s style of play.

Isco’s signing could potentially pair him up with David Silva into the attacking midfield position. This would mean Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez would play up front with Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry in the holding midfield position. Another formation could see Isco play on the wing. Following City’s poor Champions League performances Isco would add the depth the club needs to compete on the European stage.

Manchester City face high flying West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns this weekend.
