Hearts have handed a trial to Danish forward Mike Tullberg. The 22-year-old looks likely to play some part in the friendly match tonight and will be trainng with the squad over he next few days until manager Csaba Laszlo makes a decision on him.
His phisycal atrributes, he is 6ft 2in tall, make Tullberg sound as though he could be an ideal target man,.something Hearts currently lack. If I am being honest I really don’t know much about the players. Although I also didn’t know much about Rudi Skacel before he joined Hearts and he turned out to be a great signing.
Tullberg began his career in his homeland, playing for Randers, Grenna and Aarhus before joining Reggina in 2007. Since moving to Italy he has only managed to make 5 first-team appearances.
David Obua has trained with the squad again after his rib injury and may also feature tonight. Christian Nade is still continuing his rehabilitation through his personal fitness programme and i is not known if he will play some part tonight.
Confidence will certainly have increased after the 6-0 will on Wednesday night, albeit against poor opposition. Tonight will be different as Hearts take on Bundesliga side Kaiserslatern.
With much of pre-season it is the performance that counts more than the result and it will be interesting to see if Laszlo gives his ‘first team’ 60 minutes or so, or whether he will change the entire team at half time again.
Kaiserslautern will provide a stiff test tonight and I wouldn’t be upset if Hearts lost. As long as the right attitude is shown. The game kicks off at7pm tonight (GMT).
In other news want-away striker Calum Elliot’s loan move to MK Dons may have stalled. Elliot has returned to Edinburgh and it is believed that Inverness are still interested in the Scotland under-21 international.
The kick-off time for the match against Kaiserslautern was brought forward and then brought forward again and the game began around fifteen minutes ago (it is now 17.30 GMT).
Hearts line up as:
Banks; Thomson, Zaliukas, Berra, Wallace; Kingston, Jonsson, Stewart, Driver; Makela, Mole. Subs: McDonald, Karapidis, McGowan, Ivaskevicius, Mikoliunas, Ksanavicius, Palazuelos, Templeton, Glen, Tullberg (trialist).
