Blanc has stated that he is interested in taking over the post at Manchester United, replacing his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson when the latter decides to call time on his long tenure at the club. Ferguson is currently 68 years old and by the time Blanc’s contract with the French Football Federation expires, he would be 70 years old. Blanc was full of praise for Sir Alex, saying he is the ‘cornerstone of Manchester United’ and that he ‘personifies Manchester’s project’. Laurent Blanc is currently focussed on being successful in his job as French manager, but in the near future, he would be very interested to manage his former club Manchester United.

In an interview with Reuters, Laurent Blanc’s comments were:

“Sir Alex is the cornerstone of Manchester United. He personifies Manchester’s project, he’s got this passion.”

“It would be a very interesting, although a very tough challenge but maybe interesting if he is the one starting it [his replacement’s process]. With me or someone else but I could be interested.”

“It would please me a lot. But it would be tough to find a successor to Sir Alex. He has done it for 24 years and it will not be easy.”

“For now, I am not in that [Manchester United] project. I have another challenge.”
