The excuse people use for losing to Chelsea is that Chelsea has Abramovich and therefore we have the money to buy superstars.
This is slightly true as Chelsea had a very humble beginning, being in and out of financial debt, this was until Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in July of 2003.
This is quite the same with Man. City. Their old owner Thaksin Shinawatra, the ex-PM of Thailand was struggling with finances as well due to rise of anti-Thaksin protesters. He stepped down to the benefit of Man City.
Who to take over? Who other than Dubai. Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) for Investment and Development, represented by Dr Al Fahim was more than happy to buy the Eastlands Club.
ADUG has already caused Chelsea a lot of damage by targeting Robhino, the Brazilian wonder we would sacrifice Shaun Wright-Philips. So we would lose one of our star wingers for no gain.
“And within 24 hours to sign one of the greatest players (Robinho from Real Madrid) is really fantastic. I will be meeting with Mark Hughes on Friday and then we will get down to details on how to progress further. We do have a few other key players in our mind and hopefully we will get them during January,” Al Fahim said.
“Our aim is to make Manchester City the best club in the world and we are looking at silverware. When we sit with the technical committee we will discuss further and we are keen to emerge as strong contenders for the Premiership in the next three years.”
Which players will ADUG target next? Maybe the likes of Ronaldhino, or maybe Chelsea players like Cech, Drogba or even steal Deco from us.
ADUG has the same aspirations as Roman Abramovic. So is Man City the next Chelsea? You decide.
