Blackburn Rovers new Chicken overlords, the VH Group want to offer Diego Maradona a role at the club. This news comes on the same day as the Lancashire side sacked manager Sam Allardyce.
Maradona struggled as boss of Argentina. struggling to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, the team played better at the tournament, but still failed to perform at the level expected of a team able to chose a frontline from Messi, Tevez, Aguero, Milito and Higuain. So perhaps this is more about promoting their chicken business worldwide than running a football club?
Rovers club captain Ryan Nelsen said: “I’m not really sure of the future. I don’t want to talk about who the next manager could be – it is disrespectful to Sam. I am still getting over the shock of it. The sun will come up today and we will move on but I can speak for all of the players and say we are desperately sorry about this.”
The uncertainty can’t be helpful and Rovers host relegation candidates West Ham at the weekend, defeat could be the start of a downward spiral for the club unless the right appointment is made and quickly. Is Maradona the right appointment?!
